I bought a complete 8.8 TC rear end with disc brakes for my 87 cougar that has a 7.5 rear end with drum brakes. My question is what brake lines and cables do I need to attach everything properly to the TC 8.8?
Also do I need to change the master brake cylinder???
OK I did a bunch of searching and come up with this link from stinger performance
http://www.stinger-performance.com/rearswap.html
And there are a couple stores on ebay that carry ALL the brake parts needed, please note the rear left and right brake cables required for the swap are now discontinued and they are vanishing quick (FMS M-2809-A you need 2 of these)
You will need a new master with a 1 1/8 bore. A porportioning valve and remove the hold off valve from the combo valve. You will only need an e brake cable on the drivers side. But if you have state visual inspection you may need the second side. The juice line is easily hooked up with a little ingenuity. It basically is an easy swap all around. Good luck.
I got the 93 cobra master cylinder with 1 inch bore, the guy said that was the best one for the swap! I have an adjustable proportioning valve, 3 to 2 line adapter, all brake cables and hopefully that has most of it covered. Also new square tube control arms with poly bushings on the way.
