A little back story... This is my second 1980 T-Bird, it's completely identical to my first car right down to the colors and few options (still have the first one btw). I paid $80 dollars for this car at an auction sale to use as a parts car for my first, but this one was in much better shape.
It sat in the guys trees since '91, but i put a new battery and fresh gas in it, removed the exhaust pipe that was full of mouse nests, and used it as a dd for 2 years(never had a carb car start so nicely as this one did) 52,XXX miles on it original (previous owner bought it new)
I will try to get a better pic up of its current state. It is pretty well gutted right now and the goal is an obnoxious, barely streetable terror of a Sunday driver:burnout:.

Very nice, I really like the boxy fox's!!!
I had 2 of the '80 XR-7's. I'd link my threads on them, but I need to re-upload all the pics that got lost when my old web host went belly up and vanished w/o a trace. I'd have another, but my issue is space right now. You'll see my first one (white/red) roll through the banner at the top once and a while.
I liked the Box Birds the more I saw them. It's good to see someone working on one!
OK. So, if you're interested I have reloaded ALL the pics into the (34page) thread on the white XR-7. You can find it HERE (http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?9721-The-80-XR-7...).
Thanks for the thread Chuck W. It's so nice to see someone else having an interest in these cars, most everyone that sees it where I live thinks it's a Monte Carlo :nutkick:
I actually had another one after that...but I didn't get as involved with the chassis/suspension stuff on that one. I sold it as well... (To the same person as the first!). Just too much going on, and not enough time or space at the moment.
I still hanker for one, and may get back to one someday.
Some folks don't like those early 80's models and say they're really Fairmonts.
Well I liked the Fairmont, and I like those early 80's Birds.
I don't know what it is about them, but they always look so agressive and racey to me. I always loved them, had an '80 for awhile, also make a pretty mean looking Nascar stocker!!
Two you-tube videos of 80 T-Bird dragcar

Nice car Fordwiser, What are you running for a drivetrain? I'm jealous!
Was 351 Cleveland with older SVO aluminum heads and matching intake, C-4 trans with high stall convertor and trans brake, 9-inch rear with 4.57 gears and spool. Best time was 10.43@ 128mph
Building new motor 418 ci windsor based aluminum block with same Cleveland SVO heads. Should run in the nines
