Title: 88 Blackout headlight covers
Post by: CatManDude on September 30, 2011, 07:11:45 PM
Does anybody have a line on where to find blackout/smoke headlight covers for an 88 Cougar?  I know they're out there but not sure where to start, and I don't make it to many car shows and swap meets.  Thanks in advance, Dave.

I'm looking for a new set as well I broke one taking it off in the winter. I love the look of them.

You can get them here http://www.autopartsdeal.com/catalog/?N=1669+11252+4294963734+11920+4294966506 (http://"http://www.autopartsdeal.com/catalog/?N=1669+11252+4294963734+11920+4294966506")

And I know you can get them on JCWhitneys site as well.

Thanks for the info.  I checked out all 3 resources and here's what I came up with:  the covers on Amazon.com are the wrap-around style and cover all lights and markers.  They are about $83 delivered and have a lifetime warranty.  The covers on the other two sites are also GTS, but appear to be rectangular, although there is a disclaimer stating that they may differ from the photo,, and come in clear, smoke and carbon fiber.  Pricing on these is more like $79 delivered and they have a 90 day warranty.  The Amazon covers are part #GT0221-706, and the others appear to be GT0221s.  All three claim to be for off road or show use only.

You can try summit racing as well. That's where I've gotten mine before. They do come with the off road use only disclaimer. If you forget to take them off at night it's very hard to see. You defenately have to take them off.
