So I finally got back in the Tbirds and cats again after driving a stang for spring and summer.
This is the beast as I got it:

it already had 1 5/8" BBK headers and mustang H-pipe and 2.5" flowmasters wwhen I bought it, plus a K&N panel filter. so it took me about an hour of it sitting in my driveway to decide where I will take this car.
blacked out the grill for now (going to aquire a TC header panel and hood today hopefully)
then bought these to complement the lers and make it Emmisions testable so I can put it on the road:

ordered a set of new GT40X aluminium heads with 1.94 intake valves from Summit racing the other day. (they should fit the stock SO 302 right?) if not I will swap in a built HO. I guess.
also I have this waiting to go on after the HO conversion/swap:

with this to support it:
a BBK adjustable FPR, SCT BA2600 MAS, 39lb injectors, and the adapters for both.
also got a chip for an A9L comp:

stay tuned....
Very nice project! What a great foundation to start with. no rust and a presentable exterior and interior. Have fun.
that's an interesting cat setup.. :rollin:
nice solid start to a project.. looks like her previous owner knew what he had and took great care of it.. please don't booger it up with a TC header :( LOL.. good luck with her, she looks like she'll treat you well!
Looks like a great start, did you find that in Canada?
Looks like a great car. Are you going to lengthen the tailpipes or just use them where they terminate?
Does it rain milk up there?
That looks just like the kitten I found 5 months ago. She would do the same thing. She tried to make a home out of the floor mats I recently bought for the T-bird.
Looks like a nice, soild project. You're not winter driving that thing right?
The power of the Fox Thundercats keep pulling you back in don't they? ;)
Nice Birdie...
For the heads I'd recommend the Trick Flows, no clearance problems even with moderate performance cams...
Looks like a nice solid foundation. Glad you came back to the thundercat side.
I thought about them but for some reason I thought you needed valve reliefs for them. unfortunately it is too late, my order is placed.
thanks for the comments guy, yes it has always been a Canadian car, that has only been subjected to two winters when it was new.
and yes I will be lengthening the pipes. was installing them today but the way they tucked the lers way up, you cant get a tail pipe on it, so I need some new flowtubes tomorrow.
Welcome back. Nice Bird as well. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
I thought those flowtubes looked alot more bent than mine. I thought about just running my tailpipes like yours without lengthening.
Looks great. looks like there's a lip on front bumper i haven't seen before.
Bad idea. for one it wil look like , and two it lets the exhaust get trapped under the car and possibly seep into the cabin.
yeah there is a body kit on front and back but nothing on the sides. so I picked up a set of side skirts from a '91 Mustang GT with the mounting clips, that I am going to modify to fit.
Welcome back! Can't wait to see how your Stang side skirts turn out... :)
Nice find! It looks to be in great shape. I'm partial to leaving the grill.
yaaaaaaaay.. i'm not alone!
I always liked the grille too. As a matter of fact, I'm cooking steaks on it tomorrow.
That's one helacious red stripe!, lol. Nice car, keep the grille. :)
Steaks are just waiting for the heat !!!
I'll be there in a few hours, hope they're not cold by then.
I like mine medium well, please. ;D
Sorry, I only cook them well done.
Havi.."a few hours"?...from Minnesota? You'll be breaking a few speed laws. LOL.
grilled steaks are worth it, lol.
Good point.
well I see one of the downfalls of this place hasnt changed.... a topic about a car, trails off on to about cooking....
LOL
I bought a Marauder, how's that for straying???(links in sig)
Now I feel bad. I opened the hood on the Thunderbird a little while ago and checked the oil. It is still right at the correct level, and golden. I also found that there's a small rattle in the driver side door. I think it's a rod for the door lock ( that was all car talk). No food was cooked during the typing of this post.
I store my beer in the trunk of my car. (tying it all together, lol)
Would have been good with the Pork Chop I ate a couple hours ago, unfortunately I'm out of liquid refreshment...
I personally like the stock tbird grill too but oh well its not my car :p
What's the deal with that blue light next to the headlight switch? Also do you plan on doing anything to the interior? Like console/floor shifter or anything?
Updates?
Please post pics of the build!
That's a nice looking car and will be killer after you get all the stuff on it.
Fwiw when I tried to put gt40y's on so pistons it seemed too close doing a drop valve test at tdc. It would be no problem with ho pistons and cam.
That vortech should make some real good power.  How much boost are you planning to run?
Mike
well i figured i might as well update this a bit.
that blue light is the car alarm
sold the vortech awhile ago to buy a boat, but that didnt work out, so bought another brand new vortech and installed she is plated and on the road now:
i dropped a 5.0LHO and T5 in the engine bay with the blower
also molded in a tc scoop in the fender and shaved the antenna, and has a full autometer phantom series gauge cluster
dont tease us like that without pics
will post pics and vids later. my comp is shot and posting right now with my xbox360 lol

love the hood scoop in the fender
The side scoop thing...im warming up to it...
Anyways performance...so how much power do you think it will make? Engine management? Fuel injectors? Boost....blah blah blah
have huge plans for the car but for now it is running of a stock A9L with an FMU. planning to put an SCT BA2800 mass air in it and 24lb injectors with my SCT chip and have Steeda tune it, and crank the boost to 9psi. then will upgrade to megasquirt and LS swap and a turbo and shoot for 9 sec 1/4 mile runs.
Hey now, I've seen that fender scoop somewhere else before:hick:. I like how your incorporating things you did in the past into this one. I remember the blue one you did years ago. Looks good Ron keep up the good work buddy. My lx has come a very long way since you saw it at CJ 07
Thanks man. The scoop is much better quality this time, as last time I fabricated it out of sheet metal. Much nicer job this time :). I have checked in on your build from time to time. Going to use a few of your ideas as well. How do youy like the tubular K member? How was the fit?
The k member fit decently. I had to waller out the holes for the back mounting holes and when I rebuilt the strut towers I had to use 1/2 inch spacer but other than that it fit great.
What ideas are you gonna use? Maybe I might have some insight for you
You'll see :). Nothing you can really help with. Just going to take some fabricating on my part
Right on buddy can't wait to see it all done.
kinda a little update;
sold the vortech (AGAIN) and threw a set of GT40 heads and explorer intake in it for now.
and just finished making a new hood again as well lol
