Like the title states I,m looking for a smog pump delete for an '88 5.0. Thanks.:D
On my 5.0 88, I just got rid of it totally. Got a shorter belt and ran it in a different routing.
Yep, shorter belt.
Do you have to route it differently, and if so do you remember how you did it and what size belt? Thanks.
Here's the Stang diagram. Now, our steering pump bracket is different, so, the belt length may be slightly different, but, it'll give you a great starting point.

I bought one new from Summit racing or Jegs for like $25.00.
Well for me, at wide open throttle, it is just a pulley. Order a belt for no a\c and I think you'll be close.
I had my smog pump lock up on me and just ran a shorter belt till emissions came up and swapped a "new" one I found sitting in the junkyard on.
really I'll check all the ones I found were like $70 and up...lol.
I went to shorty headers and an off road h-pipe, so no place for the hose and no emissions here.
Let me check when I get home tonight. Ill get the route and belt size.
Thanks.
I caught them on sale when I was doing my HO conversion and c00ched it up. Its a BBK maybe?? Can't remember for sure.
I used the pink/red routing on the link.

I lost my paper that had the part number on it. I will have to get under the car and try and read it off the belt. Ill try tomorrow, Sorry. It wasnt what worked for Mustangs.
edit part number is 6K860. 6 ribs 86.0 inches long.
Awesome, thanks appreciate it. :D
Have you tried ebay? That's where I got mine a couple years ago.
Yep been looking, I like the short belt idea though.
I'm interested in the short belt too... may as well take mine out, as long as it connects to nothing anyway
I wish I would have saved a part #.
I did mine on the side of the road in 20 minutes when my belt locked up.
If you delete it, there are some vacuum lines, and a metal tube that runs off your heads and to the exhaust.
All you have to do is un-bolt it and find the right length belt. 5 minutes and free.
I used a short belt for a long time, then when I installed the a/c, I found a delete pulley for the smog for $20.00 and got it. Main reason was so that I could just toss on a stock length belt that I had on the garage wall since until a/c, it was a/c delete....an even shorter belt.
Oh you mean all the that's in the junk pile right now....lol. Yea really cleans up the engine bay on that side. :D
I got the part number off the belt. It is 6K860. Means it is 6 rib serpentine, 86.0 inches long.
This is all stock pulleys. Underdrive will change the length.
Thanks I appreciate your help.:bowdown::bowdown:
