I found an ebay seller with 15 dual snorkel air cleaners for pre 85 5.0L V8's. I'm getting a price quote and will let everyone know what I hear.
Make sure they are for a carb and not CFI ....unless you want a few. I got caught with a CFI one but luckily the seller swapped it back for the carb one.
Right now I want one for CFI, carbed will work too since I plan on swapping for a carb. I sent a message with plenty of questions about them, just waiting on a reply.
They want $150 for a used one. I can definetly wait til I swap to a carb, and make my own custom air cleaner like I want.
Yeah, considering all you would have to do is cut a hole and stick another snorkle in there...
Good call, I paid $50 for mine but I really wanted an original one.
If you go this route, the plastic fresh air intake(inside the fender-well) and the flex fitting from the stock single snorkel is exactly the same as the one used on the other side of the double inlet (just inverted) so you can get these parts from a wrecker for a fraction of what it would cost from the aftermarket.
EDIT: You'll have to relocate/replace the washer fluid bottle as I did.
I've been thinking about doing this as well.
I either plan on using an open air cleaner with a painted lid with "5.0 Liter" like the factory or making my own single or dual snorkel and making a full intake down into the fender wells with it. It all depends on how I end up rearranging my engine bay after removing all of the smog and god awful wiring after a carb swap.
Get some galvinized steel dryer duct work. Sand it down and paint it. Run what ever sized tube you want. Flatten it and cut a hole. Make a custom dual ram air using the holes or foglight cututs in your bumper.
You'll be in it for around $50 and have a better fuctional setup instead of just two holes.
