nice parts car!
Kidding dude, looks like a garaged grandpaw car. very nice, Good find.
It's like we found each other :)
My 1992 Chevy S10 still runs great, but after years of being a work truck, the body is falling apart. I had been looking for another vehicle for a few weeks with no luck; most of the cars I found were way overpriced for what they were ($5,000 for a Honda Civic with over 300K miles? Really?).
On August 27th, we pulled into a used car lot to look. What I was hoping to find was a little Escort or Contour. You know. Something "practical".
My wife asked me what I wanted. I told her what I really WANTED was another mid-80s Thunderbird like my beloved '84 5.0 Elan I sold back in 1996 and pined for ever since.
We walked around the lot. I didn't see much I was interested in.
Then I saw in the back corner of the lot, the edge of the front of what I initially thought was a gleaming white Thunderbird.
It was parked back there behind a couple other cars. I walked back to it and saw what it was.
"Here kitty kitty."
The body is good. Really good. There's a few very small rust spots which will be simple to fix up. I looked underneath it and I surprised how it also looked new. They had left the door unlocked. I got in and looked around. The interior is in practically new condition. I popped the hood. 5.0!!! It shows its age but looks remarkably clean.
I couldn't believe it.
There was no price sticker on this car though.
I called the lot immediately after getting home from work on monday 8-29-11. They had just gotten the Cougar in the day I found it. Asking price was $1999.
We drove out there and I took it for a test drive. The engine is smooth and strong.
And I drove it home :)
I never thought I would ever find a replacement for my '84 T-Bird. But now here she is. After driving it for a couple weeks though, I think I actually prefer the Cougar. It's a very classy, elegant machine.
Congrats and Thanks for bringing home another 4 eyed Cougar...:headbang:
My favorite cars of all time are those mid-1980s Ford Coupes. Don't get me wrong; I appreciate the older classics too but there's just something about those Foxy Fords of the 80s that really does it for me. This is the first time in many years I felt like I was driving something important.
Clean machine. Welcome to the forums.
Sweetness. Nice score you got there. Are you keeping it as it is, or do you have a few plans for the old girl? It is a girl isn't it? Don't tell me you didn't look under there to check. You HAD to check !!!
Yeah it's a she. For the time being I just want to get her back to her former glory, which won't take much! Then eventually boost the horsepower a bit. I was going to repaint it but the white has grown on me, it looks really classy, so I'm keeping it white.
I like the white too! Beautiful car. Congratulations. Thanks for sharing the pictures. And I'm glad you enjoy the car

Wow, you have the same car as mine except red interior and a lot nicer. :giggle: Congrats!
I've got an Escort for ya, lets trade......;) LOL Nice score and welcome to the forums!
Nice score:D.
You're not going to drive that in the winter/salt right?
I really don't want to but I will if I must. My '92 S10 SUCKS on snow. I plan to put some more aggressive mud tires on it before this winter to see if that helps. We've been sharing a ride in my wife's little KIA Rio on snow days but she starts a new job on a different shift in November.
Nice car and welcome. I love the 4 eyed cars.
Sharp! Did you buy that from DAMINC 20 years ago? JK, again, sharp car!!
Sharp car, and nice score! Welcome.......
