I hooked a a voltmeter thingy to my battery and in 10 minutes it went from 12.69 to 12.67. Thats bad right? Pulling all of the fuses would just take too long so what I'm thinking to do is buy a battery cut off switch and mount it under the dash. How long does it take for the computer to reset or whatever and will that effect my idle everytime I start up? Any cons to this idea? Thanks.
GIT-R-DONE!!
Finding the offending circuit will take less time than putting in a cut-off switch.
Is the battery dying? Or does the voltage just drop .02V after it is shut off?
Dying.
Well now I'm about half way through the fuses and nothing yet. What I do is pull a fuse, walk away and piss around for 10-15 minutes, and come back to see it go down .02. It sucks. And now its raining.
Do you have a multimeter that can read amps (preferably digital)? If not, borrow or buy one. Set the multimeter to the highest DC Amps setting. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery post...hook one end of the multimeter to the battery post, the other to the cable. Ideally, the draw should be less than 50mA. Anything over this is a problem. Begin to remove the fuses one by one and note the difference in draw. It should be evident which circuit is the culprit. I had a parasitic drain on my '85 that turned out to be the radio. It still worked, but it pulled ~150mA and would kill the battery after 2-3 days without running.
