Title: What does the HVAC box weigh?
Post by: Schlodes on August 28, 2011, 06:19:58 PM
I am contemplating if this is worth removing as this is a summer only car and I want light...

Is it 40 lbs?

Bah, I knew I shoulda weighed that while the dash was out...

Just as a SWAG, I dont think you'll get 40lbs from just the case and cores. If you remove all the associated actuators, controls, hoses, wires etc you might get close.

I'll just leave it and change the heater core then.  It was one of them deals where if there were huge gains,  then cool, but not going to give up working heat only to lose 20 lbs or something...  Thanks.

Thats how I felt too. Even in the summer here, my wife appreciates working heat for early mornings and late evening cruises.

The one in my Mark VII felt like it weighed about 20-25 lbs.

I just weighed it. The whole entire box with cores and blower is exactly 20 lbs.
