Are factory T-bird/Cougar floor mats the same as Fox Mustang floor mats? The reason I'm asking is I found that I can get Fox Mustang floor mats (set of 4) made by ACC for about half the cost of the T-bird/Cougar specific (set of 4) ones. If they are the same size and shape I'm all for spending less money:D.
They are not exactly the same ,however They would probably be close enough for most folks
. Are they shorter that the T-bird/Cougar ones?
These are the ones I was thinking about buying: http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/ACC-7993DKG/84-89-Mustang-Dark-SVO-Smoke-Gray-Floor-Mats
They will fit, and they will work. They're not 100% exact but not many people would notice that. Generally all Fox floor mats can interchange quite nicely.
Mustangs wont have the piece that fits over the nub on the seat track to keep it from sliding. Make sense?
Well I ordered them. I'll see how they fit when they get here and post up pics.
I almost forgot about the pictures. The mats fit great and are a pretty close color match for my 24 year old carpet. They look almost exactly like the factory floor mats. They are ACC mats and are about 1/2 the cost of the mats direct from ACC (the T-bird or Mustang mats cost $129 direct from ACC).

Nice looking interior!
Thanks for the update.
Yeah, I hate you. That interior is fantastic, looks like a three year old car.
You know the scary thing? My DD Focus interior looks like that all the time. I vacuum and detail it once a week. My girlfriend thinks I have a problem....
Right with ya man. Red car is still like that because, well, it hasn't moved since May of 2010 :hick:, the crown vic I keep up like that, even the silver "beater" cougar, almost looks better inside than outside.
I cannot stand a messy/cluttered/just dirty pine needle or grass or whatever littered interior. I try to not let much enter in the first place but that's always a losing battle. I want a plastic stiff bristle brush glued to the door of my car to dig the stuff out of my shoes with. LOL
Not me, I'm a slob.
I shake my feet before I get in my DD to remove any grass or leaves from my shoes.....I have problems.
Hell I don't even leave stuff like CDs, phone chargers, cords, iPods, ect. visible in the interior. It makes the car look messy. That's why car's have glove boxes and center consoles to hide stuff in. Plus with all the stuff hiddden and a clean interior it looks like when you just take delivery of the car at the dealer........I have problems.
Well as far as IM concerned you don't have problems. :D So there. One person highly approves of your vehicular-related habits. Close enough for government work.
Those door panels do not appear to be the originals...what was your donor vehicle for those? Any modification required to make them fit?
They look correct to me ????
They are factory. 85-88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupes, 87-88 Thunderbird LXs (what my car is), and 85-86 Mercury Cougar XR7s all got a different, fancier, door panel than the other models in the line. It's what's called the "luxury door panel". All the other T-birds and Cougars have a "base" door panel.
That would explain it...I've only ever had the base version. I kind of like the luxury version, may need to upgrade soon.
