There are virtually no Fox Birds or Cougars here....except mine. We took the baby for a drive and I saw an '87 or '88 Cougar parked by a tree. It was gold-ish in color with a thick vinyl roof (just over the back half). It LOOKED like it said "Special edition" on the sides of the padded roof right under the rear 1/4 windows. It had those UGLY 14 inch wheels that some Cougars got. No covers... It looked mostly intact except for a couple of the front lights. I'm guessing 3.8. Could be wrong, but that's my bet. I'm going to check it out and see what the owner is doing with it. parts, sell it, whatever. I'll try to grab a pic and post some info as I get it. maybe this evening or Monday morning.
Not really big news, but around here, these cars just don't seem to exist much any more.
I saw a decent 3.8 Cat in town yesterday...was a V6 car by the fugly chrome on the "winders"...
I saw my first syard TC today.... I have never before seen one at the pull apart, got all the parts I needed for free (no, I didn't steal them, the lady at the counter just told me it was my lucky day lol) so that made it a bittersweet junkyard run.
Some LS 5.0's had chrome also, had one. :)
Yeah, my '88 LS 5.0 had chrome window trim too. I think only the XR7's had black
Only had one tail pipe though, wire wheels, and column shift
I have to run to the store tomorrow, so, I may make a run over there and check it out. If it's a 5.0 car, I may see if he'll sell it. If it's a 3.8 car, I guess it could be good for parts for me,but I wouldn't buy it.
I just saw one in my garage today. I wil post pics later
87's only had one tail pipe with the V8, and most non-XR7's had the column shifter. The only ThunderCat I've ever owned that had a factory floor shifter was the '87 Sport (and the '87 parts TC)
I went and looked at the car...it's a gold-ish color dark vinyl roof, and emblems that say "San Antonian Edition" on it. Badges, not stickers. Seats are decent, consolette interior. Front driver side fender is bent up, and it has the CFI 3.8......I have no interest in it. Easily put back on the road, but not for me.
What about the quarter panel you need, was it good?
I don't know if they'll part the car, and it's not worth it to me to buy for what little I'd use and the trouble iof dealing with it. Eventually, I'll find the lower 1/4 here on the forum or at a yard near me.
I have 87 sport with floor shifter..the 2 parts cars I had were both column shifter! If I went back in time I would have kept the 6 cylinder car that had turbo coupe emblem on trunk!!!LOL
Remember s is around $200-250 a ton, could make some $$$$ off of it.
If you have a floor shifted car, the H.O/ 5 speed conversion could be done in a weekend.
That would be cool if the car is free. Otherwise, nope.
My 5.0L is column shift, had stock one tail pipe and wire wheel covers and chrome trim. Mine is a GS. Mine also has a third brake light, which '84s did not have.
