Title: 5 lug with TC stock brakes
Post by: TOM Renzo on August 16, 2011, 09:45:49 PM
I always wanted to use the stock brakes on a 5 lug conversion with Lincoln rotors. now no one makes this kind of setup . I am using Mustang 29 1/4" axles for Max tire clearance. Even though i am MINI TUBING THE MIDNIGHTER (1988 TC) So for all that are interested here is the Brackets i Made. Nothing special but i wanted to keep the stock TC brakes and Hardware.

Here is the completed setup. All i needed to buy was the axles and rotors. The brackets were made from some s metal i found in the shop. Now i have LSC brake rotors 5 lugs an extra 1 1/2" of back space 3/4 " on each side for the price of the rotors and the new Mustang axles. Presto works BEAUTIFUL. And took me 4 hours of my time.

Now a little grinding on the brackets some chassis black paint and the brackets i made will be GOLDEN TO SAY THE LEAST. Thanks for listening!!!

Sounds like what I want to do on my setup...only I want the 61" -to- width to remain constant. How would your setup work with regards to '94-'98 Stang axles and mark VII rotors/calipers?

Your brackets would be slightly different.  He went ~ 1-1/4" in, but you wouldn't need to go that far.  I'd have to dig back, but the Lincoln/SVO axles are about 1/2" longer than the 94-98 Mustang ones (which are the same as the stockers in the TBirds).

I used 29 1/4 " axles not 28 1/4" i made a typo. The stock TC 4 lug axle is 30". So my axles are 3/4 of an inch shorter on either side. I wanted the extra space so that is why i used shorter axles. Normally i would use Lincoln axles and plates along with their calipers. But this way i wanted to use the original TC calipers and hardware. No one else has dun it as far as i know??? Everything i have read does not utilize the stock TC calipers and brackets. Just something i wanted to accomplish. Hope you like the post and thank You
