Title: Started fixing a few things, found melted wire
Post by: bullitt4514 on August 15, 2011, 01:56:54 AM
Replaced plugs/cap/rotor/wires, and ignition switch.

Switch I think was the original, was split, and was a ford part.

On the switch harness there is a red/blue wire that had started to melt.
What is this wire for, spent some time trying to find out, and haven't found much!

It has been dying randomly, and shaking the switch harness tonight seemed to affect this problem.

Red blue is part of the start circuit I believe. What year/model?

Oops, forgot to specify it's an 88 TC

I've been looking still, and it appears that's what it's for. That's bad news though, as when the problem arises, it cranks but will not fire. I think I'll give the IRCM box a good smack if it does it again, to see if it starts :headbang:

There was an extra IRCM with the car when I bought it .
