...ok, I've got a few skeletons in my closet that I thought I'd share. These are even more shocking than my fetish for station wagons:
#1) I'm a "Desperate Houswives" fan.:shoothead I know, I know, it's foolish, it's unrealistic, it's rubbish, but I have been watching it religiously since it started, and tonight the season finale was on :raspberry . The plot twists rival that of a cheesy soap opera (which, I suppose, when you think about it, is exactly what Desperate Houswives is) but it is funny. And it's full of MILF's. Can't wait 'til the next season starts! Surely I can't be the only one to be into this show...
#2) This one is the real shocker: I've actually watched the last few episodes of American Idol :yuck: . I know, I know, it's garbage and I should be ashamed of myself, especially given my view of the "canned" pop music that this show promotes, but I can justify it: This year the top prospect is a southern rocker. Bo Bice can SING! And he doesn't sing that pop bullshiznit, either - he actually did a Skynyrd song once, and he did it ed good. Good enough, that for the first time since the show's inception I actually give a rat's ass about it. GO BO!!!!!
And if I hear Randy tell BO that he's in the "Dawg pound" again I think I may kill somebody.
So, with that off my chest I hope to set off on the long road to recovery. In the meantime, does anyone else have some deep, dark and shocking secrets they'd like to share? :deal:
Can't stand most TV shows. If it isn't on Discovery, TLC, History Channel, Science Channel, Travel Channel, or HGTV, I probably don't watch it. :p Except the occasional night of getting really bombed and watching pro wrestling just to laugh my ass off.
OK, guess that sorta counts as a shocking secret. :p (the wrestling part)
Hehe, I actually watched seventh heaven a couple of weeks in a row. *Runs back in closet*
I absolutely love stargate SG-1, Its freaggin awsome!
....... i watched pimp my ride for a couple weeks in a row *glances back at closet* says "i should have stayed in there"
i was hooked on Real World for a while
chandelears (sp) do not belong in 2gen camaro's!
Id like to make a report to the moderator...........
someone has taken over the server and is using your name "thunderchicken" and claiming to have fallen in love with Desperate Houswives and some other foolish mumbojumbo. Im deeply troubled by this and thought id maybe you could beat thier a@@ with a freaking 4x4 and tell us all about it later on :giggle:
CougarSE i will side with the sg-1 i watch it everyday unless its a repeat.
I have been watching american idol every day for the whole season or what ever of it. The fort gt comerecial is supposed to be on during it at some point :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: That is all that I have been waiting for. My little sisters(all 3) keep getting me to run from acrossed the house, by saying that the comercial is on for it.:bricks:
I'm hooked on 'Lost'. Actually used to watch 'Ally McBeal' too (lotsa hotties). It was just weird enough to appeal to me.
Well it's not that bad, but I'm a huge NASCAR fan. I know there has been a debate or two about it on here mostly negative but I still like it. I first got into it in the late 80's at about 3-4 years old. I don't really like the changes over the past few years, but I still like it. Once a fan always a fan. Atleast for me. Please don't hate me.
I'm a car nut so over the years since I was very young, I've been getting diecast cars. I have have a collection of more than 1,000. Mostly 1/64 hotwheels and nascar diecasts. A couple hundred of them are larger scales.
I dropped my cable service down to "basic" about two years ago, so I only get about 30 channels of broadcast stuff.
Comedy Central, VH1, and USA used to be decent stations, but I simply can't stand them anymore. If I was in charge at one of those stations, I would clean house.
As far as prime-time stuff? I think House is a great show. Also, you'll find me plugged into FOX on Sunday night for everything but King of the Hill (can't stand the voices).
Can't stand the voices? How do you think I feel - Hank Hill is my brother. At least he looks, talks and acts exactly like him. To quote SuperNintendo Chalmers, "The rod up that man's butt has got a rod up its butt"
5.0WillGo: You were 3-4 years old in the late 80's? You SUCK! :asshole: My God, my car is almost as old as you!
I started high school in '87 :bricks1: God, now I feel old!!!
Uh oh, age tangent again!
Started high school in '85. :p
Waiting for Tom's response to this one. :D
...i was born in '85
As for Lost, thats a killer show, my dad and I both watch it
Alley McBeal...yeah...i used to watch that too...
It's just Bobby and Lou Ann's voice that I can't stand... they're really annoying. The show itself is great; some of Mike Judge's best work!
Does anybody else remember Herman's Head?
Hey Carmen, a lot of us were only a few years old in the late 80's... I was born in 83, started kindegarden in 88 ;)
Zach, House Rules! I was watching it one night with my mom after she stopped yelling at the tv (er, watching american idol).
Born in 85 Baby!!
House is great too.
I used to watch Enterprise every week until it got cancelled. I guess that's not really coming out of the closet though. Let's see...ummm...I recently bought an '85 CJ7 and have decided to fix it up first so I can park the Cougar. So all of my money for the next few months will go to the Jeep instead of the Cat. It's the only time I've ever owned anything but a Cougar.
I started high school in 1983...graduated in 1987...
Tom, I'm catching up to you!!! ;)
I was born in 87..... I never thought about it, but my car is older then I am
I like my old Mercury ´84 because we are 20 years old.....
Now i´m older than my current car , ......

Yee all just a bunch of dammed whipper snappers, I GRADUATED high school in 1968... Yea I'm feelin really old now...
On the NASCAR subject, I was a rabid about it through the '70s, '80s, and into the '90s. Recorded most of the races, and have a shiznit load on Beta('84-'87)and VHS('88-'92). Now I mostly DON'T give a shiznit about it.
As far as comming out of the closet, I almost never watch TV period... But I once in a while I do watch Golden Girls with the wife... :disappoin
it, and I can't pick on ya right now, either.. :p
My dad graduated in 68 too! :giggle:
Wow I was born in 85 as well. lol
i was born in 84, have an 84 cat and an 85 cat.
as for American Idol.. even though i'm a Canadian, who doesn't watch much T.V. I have to admit that I watch it.
That, Simpsons, and Overhaulin'... I also like to catch reruns of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Seinfeld.
some may allready know this but im comming out of the closet on another thing.......on the age subject...... :P
im the youngest here! December 23, 1990 baby! i have yet to start high school!
gah! now i feel like a 4yr old
hmmmmmmm i bet that made YOU ALL feel old , it made me feel priveleged(sp?) to be in all you presence (another SP?!)
dont feel bad...my girlfriend was born in May of 1989
My mom was only 11 when you graduated, and shes friggin old!
1985 was a good year :D only ever owned two vehicles younger than me and the oldest one is still younger than some of you guys :p
Used to watch junkyard wars religiously back in the day when it first came out but havnt had tv in my house for over a year now. I went out to my moms and watched a couple hours of tv last night, it was horrible, laughable, I swear its getting worse, that'll keep me away from tv for a couple more months again :yuck:
Started jr high in '92. :D
TV series' I am now hooked on, due to DVD rentals:
1-Dead like Me, best show on Telly in AGES! Still waiting for Season II to hit Rogers. HBO
2-Buffy, I've pretty much seen them all, but we have season one, and we'll buy II somewhere along the line. I can only find Angel Season II on DVD right now.
3-Alias, yer right! We just started watching season II today. :D
4-Carnivalle, another HBO masterpiece.
5- (and the only true evil in here) Roswell, we finished season I this morning. This show is the X Files meets Dawsons Creek, just with really bad background music. There's no telling when they'll switch to elevator music next. No, no. Buddy, put the Sax away. No one wants to see that.
Other than that, we never miss Survivor, and try to catch Medium, Gilmore Girls (that one's ALL the wife), and Joan of Arcadia (I hope they can get their second season). Revelations was an............... interesting mini series. Anyone notice the huge influx of Christian based television and film since The Passion came out? Not that I'm complaining. It's nice for the faith to get some positive press for once. Just to bad it had to be a trend, you know. I wonder if we'll have an anti-90's and get a bunch of trendy Nuns now, like the trendy witches of a decade ago.
I need to spend more time in the garage.
im actualy a small white lab rat bent on world dommination.
:grinno: ok,, ill cooperate
On wed nights at 7:45, i will systematically walk about the house to unplug all the phone. the dinner plates are filled and we all retire to watch lost. Nobody better think about interrupting this event.
another one...
I cant wait to tune into NPR news on the radio while driving
I cant put my laundry away so it piles up by my dresser
I love plants,,, tiger lilly is my favorite
I cant stand to see someone kill a bug for no reason. Ill also help a bug get out of a puddle of water if its stuck.
I cant stand the feel of cotton balls, eeewww,, Thesy squeek when you moosh them and give me terrrible goose bumps.
i cant stand to have dry dirt on my hands,, goose bumps again. I get dirty all the time but i just cant stand that dry dirt thing.
when i cook,, i have to contantly wash my hands when i touch anything outside of the actual food.
I enjoy learning from the older generation the simple things that seem to have gotten lost in the technology age.
Only 11 when I graduated... Hummm where does she live again??? :nono:
Actually my wife was 11(almost 12) when I graduated...
and,,
i have every episode of "bevis and butthead" from time life.
Dont have the DVD's, but ive seen every episoad
YES! Pinky and the Brain
Ive been downloading an assload of episoads
Just to help prove that i'm a bigger nerd than i'll ever admit :giggle: !!
1-Dead Like Me -Showtime (just a fill in correction)
2-I own every season on dvd of both Angel and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. (Let's see 45 x 12 =.... 5hun.... way to much money!!!!)
3-I own the first 3 seasons and am impaitently wait for the season finale and release of the 4th.
Now onto the others! I own all the South Parks released to date, all the Family Guys, half the Futurama's, and 1 of the Simpsons. I also picked up the Uber Matrix set (the one with what my boss calls a doll), and have gotten all of the Lord of The Rings collector gift sets (again with the dolls!!)for the corresponding christmas's they were released! Oh, I think it's safe to say that i'm a Lost junkie myself, i'll prolly buy that when it comes out too! But the thing that makes all of this sound even better to most people is that even though I own all these series, i've only watched maybe 10 episodes out of the entire collection   :giggle: !!!!! They usually just sit and collect dust all day!!!
Nuthin on TV that I watch on a regular basis anymore. I'm even more picky than Bird351....
For me you can take HGTV off the list :p
I AM a big Family Guy fan, but I have to be honest. I don't think the new episodes are living up to the old ones. American Dad seems to be better written these days. Oh yeah, Futurama rules too!
Jcassity you really are coming out of the closet!
I've got all of the Simpsons episodes so far released on DVD (five seasons), all Futurama (four seasons), all Family Guy (three seasons, two voumes), and some shag and the City (season one, two and six).
I rather like the new Family Guy episodes - the first one was hilarious and the others were great. I can guarantee when these issues show up on DVD I will own them as well. I'd like to see a bit more of Stewie though...
As for American Dad: It's growing on me. Didn't like it much at all at the start, but it's slowly finding its way into my heart - I'm even starting to like the gay alien character (it was classic when he was on the phone and, talking about the mother of the family, said "She's starting to act like a real Catch U Next Tuesday").
One of my all time favourite shows was Duckman. I wish you could get that on DVD, or at least that it was still on in syndication...
Exactly my point. Stewie and Brian were cutting edge caracters and the writing for them on the old episodes pushed the envelope. I think now after the Janet Jackson Super Bowl Disaster networks are afraid to roll the dice like they did before. Idon't think we're gonna see Stewie of old ever again. Hopefully we do, but I have doubts.....
I don't think we'll have to wait long. Personally I think they're trying to give some of the other characters some good face time, due to the fact that stewie and brian have had a lot of face time already. I really don't think that Seth Macfarlane is gonna idlely stand by and let the standards and practices department censor him silent. It may be something of a moot point to do so, but look at the places South Park has gone. Granted I realize that this is a comparison between a cable network and public air network but when it comes down to it they have the same basic standards to follow. I think Seth takes cues from Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and I think that he's simply playing it light for the moment till he's sure he can start getting away with more. Give it time, don't lose faith!
I dunno, I'd say showing Peter get in bed with Chris and start feeling him up could be considered "pushing the envelope"...
It took three episodes before Quagmire, Cleveland and Joe came back - maybe MacFarlane's just re-establishing the characters...
im an Anime junkie.... Inuyasha, Full metal alchemist, trigun, wolfs rain,
oh yeah, and the store most visited by me is Hot Topic
OK, I'll agree with you there. There is one other show I'm a huge fan of and that's Invader Zim. ALL HAIL THE PIGGIES!
WAFFLES!!! or was it pancakes, I ferget!!!
waffles!
Im into anime also, Cowboy bebop Ghost in the Shell Stand alone complex and Full Metal Alchemist.
Good anime movies.
