So, this all started one very hot day when my car wasn't charging well because the battery was low and I had all my acc on. I started to just fix the problem in hand but i was like hey? why do I need all the computer wires across the firewall, then wires started flying then my friend was like I cant get to all the wires with the dash still connected, so that had to come out. I have been screwing with this thing for about a month now, when will it ever end...... I also decided I would never have air so I removed the air box and gave it to sarjxxx, now I have a 5 gal bucket full of wire and a bunck of holes in my firewall, not to mention ALL THE EFFIN WIRE!!!!!!!!!!!:punchballs:But the car should weigh 50-60lbs less. I did the pedal swap and in the process of installing my line lock, WHAT A FRIGGIN NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!

those photos scare the out of me.
these things must have the worst wiring looms in them, Ford mustn't of heard of electrical tape at this point.
in saying that, its something i'm keen to do on mine :|

it had some cloth tape that just fell apart in my hands
lol it doesn't look any different than when I left :giggle:
hey did you get the headlight harnesses yet?
Wow!
When asked about what I've changed on my car, I say "there are only two things original to the car, the wire harness and the blower motor". After seeing those pics, I hope the wire harness never goes up in smoke!
holy short circuit Batman!
About how mine looks right now...mine scares the hell out of me, and I swapped from EATC to manual controls...thank god for an EVTM and this place, coolcats, and Carm's site.
Crazy looking mess. Reminds me of when I had to swap a lot of wiring when my fuse box melted.
Ahh yes, I remember those days:

When I did this (dash swap) I was stupid and didn't swap the pedals while I was in there. A few months later I did the pedal swap, and it was a PITA
--and that cloth tape Ford covered the wires with was gross. All it did was make the wires sticky.
My next one will be stripped and wired from scratch...
I got about a half step away from doing that when I was putting the car back together and installing the MegaSquirt.
I still might do it, as the car really needs a set of real gauges, even though I'm partial to the stock look. I also keep thinking about rewiring the whole car with one of those ISIS power systems.
Just checked ISIS website and wow, thats pretty neat. I'm guessing no relays are needed then since it uses those power blocks?
Also chuck, are those scopes infront of your rear wheel functional? If so the are BA.
I know but if you look really close you can see that I spent another 15 hours on it......NOT!!!!!!!!!!
The only thing that i'm having trouble is the flash to pass relay only working when I power it up manually, when the key goes on it stops working???? once I figure that out I can start wrapping the wires up and get back to driving. I found this wire loom tape that I highly recommend!!!! I wrapped some wires and have had it in the sun for a week and it still isn't sticky, and priced nice.

*Hijacking post removed* Btw good work.
I wouldn't clutter up his thread with this.
Sorry. I'll edit and remove.
thanks, who's "isis"
ISIS power systems, they make wiring solutions for cars apparently (just looked at them). Their system consists of a Master cell (controller for electric system) and Power Cell (things that actually recieve the power). So the Master cell is a micro controller that reads multiple inputs and communicats with the power cell via a CAN (smaller cable) and the PC recieves the input and turns on the device. SO instead of having to run your Brake light switch, blinkers, and tail lights individually all the way to the back, you instead put to the PC and the pc has a single wire (will like 4-5 but is sealed in single wire) that runs back to the power cell which in turn is conected to the tail lights and tells it what to do based on the input from the MC. Its 1k for a 3 cell kit though.
I cant believe I did it!!!!!!!!!!! I just need to plumb in the line lock and get a -4an fitting for the oil pressure line and i'm done, just in time for the Ford show september 17

And everything works!? :) It looks great! And I'm sure you have a great sense of satisfaction. Good job.
I hope to be wrapping up my dash re-installation this week. I can't wait to get it driveable.
yes surprisingly i had a few problems on reassembly but nothing I couldn't handle, it was 2 months of HELL!!!!!!!!!!!:punchballs:
Nice work, looks fantastic!
