Gayle left around 7:45 to go down town, so I decided to get a couple of things done on the Sport. I worked from 8:10 til 9:50, and managed to get the ChuckW motor mounts installed (FINALLY !!!), and I also installed the brand new chrome BBK headers. Felt good to break out some tools and do a little wrenching. Now, If only my new &$%#@*& radiator would get here....I don't want to talk about that. Just makes me mad.
Now you have the satisfaction of bad-assed mounts...
I've..ummm, got my new(er) steering rack powerwashed...that's about it..lol
finally... you've had those mounts forever..... I'm taking a break till the weekend..... Intake installing this weekend, along with some other things...
What headers did you have prior?
Beau....even if you only power washed the rack, you did something. All of those little "somethings" add up in the end. Ask me and Jerry.
No kidding. Every time I went to install them, I'd look down at the engine compartment, and I realized,....I have to pull the strut tower brace, the headers, lift the engine.....I'll just wait.LOL. Well, I had the strut tower brace off, I had new headers going on, NOW is the time. Sooooooooo......I did it. It was really dark when I quit. I still have to start the car and make sure I lined up the X-Pipe correctly last night. Hopefully no leaks.
Mike, I have the same headers on the Sport now, but they have really faded over the years, so, I saw a guy on a forum that had a brand new, in the box with fasteners and gaskets, set of the BBK headers. Yes, this chrome will fade one day, but my "old" Ones lasted years and looked great. SO, I sold my "old" headers and got all my money back but $20.00. I thought it was a good deal, plus, they look awesome. Pics later today. I have some cs to do first.
Sounds like me, I had parts laying around forever(and still do) I'm slowly getting them on the car. I have an 8.8" to install if I ever get around to messing with the trac-lok clutches. Plus I have a set of BBK Equal length headers that won't fit. I misplaced my Sequential turn signal kit, so I feel the anger you have about your radiator. My problems are a huge list.
Parts, parts, parts. Oh how they lay around waiting on me. I will get them on someday. Ive been making some big progress lately though. Pics will be coming later.
i still have to install the strut tower brace, but that won't take long. Maybe 5 minutes or so.
I feel yalls pain, I've got a fresh HO on the stand and no time to install it.
Got the new radiator installed, and the strut tower brace will wait til tomorrow. I had to clearance it a little due to the new motor mounts lifting the engine slightly, and the new intake, no room, so, I took care of it. Now I have to repaint the brace, then, 5 minute install.
Pics it!
I'll have some up tomorrow......after I get back home.
Sorry for the delay. First, forgive the engine bay. it's filthy, but, it's a daily driver, soooooo.....

purdy...
Boy I wish my engine bay was that "filthy". lol. It's looking good!
In a few weeks I'm going to take a few days off and do a lot of cleaning and parts detailing and polishing.
Looks great to me! Nice work.
Thanks a lot guys. I don't know what you're looking at, but all I see is dirt and the need to be cleaned badly.
That's a big ass radiator. ;)
Yes it is. It seems to be helping a little on the "too warm" situation, but the fan is still where I believe the issue really is.
when i got my 88 i called my radiator jobber and they had a hd
radiator listed for the 87-8 tbird and cougar. it was a lot thicker
[2 row] than stock. ford didnt offer that option. but surprise,
it was made by visteon, who did the fords. couldnt tell it from factory.
nothing wrong w/the old one but it was piece of mind. check
with your suppliers. combine that with a hd pump and a 180
stat and you should be ok. or go wild and put the police mustang clutch fan
on too.--irv
Vinnie, what clutch cable is that...mine looks identical, but I don't know what brand mine is...
I also have a radiator that's pretty thick, about like that one..mine's stock. Well, it was on the Sport when I bought it, anyway, it's a lot thicker than the 3.8 radiators I have saved up for s..lol
Why does your AC line go across the front of the engine like that? Was that factory, because it sure isnt like mine.
mine goes across, but on the bottom then back up
I just picked up a 180 degree stat about 5 minutes ago. I'll install it this weekend. I'm sticking with an electric fan from a Taurus. When the other one worked, it worked great. I'm slowly gathering the pieces I need.
It's a Steeda cable. I personally think most of them are made at the same place and sold through different vendors. I'va seen three or 4 from different places that all looked the same to me.
That's the way it was fabbed at the a/c place. I actually would like it to be down low, but, it doesn't bother me, and the line is quality. It works.
My factory line did too. Across the bottom, but it was wasted, as were every single piece for the a/c that was left when I got the car. All is cold now.......except the water temp. LOL. I'll have that figured out hopefully by the end of Monday (I;'m taking that day off for a three day weekend.).
By the way, I JUST figured out how to "multi-quote"....Sweet.
