Title: Trunk striker bushing?
Post by: mtgmike on June 25, 2011, 05:06:42 PM
Guys,

Do the trunk strikers have a similar bushing to the doors(87 btw)? I was wiring up my back speakers, and for the first time noticed my trunk doesnt latch very well. There is no sound to let you know it latches, it either bounces back up, or it stays down. The striker was wrapped in electrical tape, looks like this now:

The typical HELP bushings for doors are much too large.

That's what mine looks like. Maybe the latch is at fault. Spray some lube on it and see how that works. Also, you may need to adjust the striker. It moves up and down.

Also the 2 rubber stoppers may be in too far...turn them out a bit at a time to get the trunk lid to sit proper in relation to the body line, then carefully adjust the latch etc
