I'm going to lay down a scenario I witnessed here from another forum. I want to know what you guys think (Not from this forum).
Person A creates a thread about a product he is looking to buy. A week later person a "bumps" his own thread to get it back up to the top.
Person "B" chimes in saying he has the said item and offers to sell it for a ridiculously low price.
Person "C" chimes in on person "A"'s thread saying he wants them.
Person "A" replies on his own thread he wants them and gets wait listed by person "B"(seller).
Is this right? I mean it seems like person C hijacked person A's thread. They are both willing to pay the asking price, what do you guys think. You guys buy and sell a lot, what would you guys do? Who do you think should have first dibs and why. Should person "A" send a pm to person "B" politely expressing his concerns, or would that burn the bridge?
I've seen many people, myself included, have been person "C", but I'll say "I want the part if person "A" doesn't. Using myself as a second option for the seller. I don't try to hijack. People jumping in to be a second or third option is common. I know though, that the original seller has priority. It's business. Just a few minutes ago I made an offer on some lights, another guy offered more, I didn't get them (here on the forum), no big deal, it's part of the "selling parts" game. If you take it personal, you'll just be setting yourself up for disappointment.
Of course, that's my own opinion.
I agree with what Vinnie said 100%
This was sorta how I thought of it. Looks like some people just don't have any integrity anymore..
Yeah, I've been on both ends of that situation myself.
I've always tried to be fair, and stick to first come-first served sorta thing.
Then there are things like phone calls, emails, etc.
A call is faster, and likely to get more immediate results than emailing someone. I only check my email 2 or 3 times a day, whereas my phone is always close by...just sayin.
That situation reminds me of when Vinnie bought the 140 cluster via CL, and another poster here had emailed the seller, but Vin called the guy and made the deal. (Or that's what I seem to recall..)
The guy was a little hot about it, but, if you want something bad enough, do ALL that you can to get it.
Of course, anymore I feel like an outsider anyway...
Outsider? You are not an outsider....you just need to show more love to the Sport and get your mojo back.LOL.
Back on topic...I think as a seller,I will go with the first person who wants the part, no matter who asks, and if the first person doesn't want it, or respond in a fair, timely manner, I'll go to the next person. If I'm selling parts, I want them gone, and need money for the Sport. Time is money on the bottom line. I'll do all I can to work with people, I have been on both ends of the buying/selling table, and communication is very important.
With the 140 speedo....I didn't know anyone else wanted it. It was a "Hey,look what I saw on CL" kind of thing. I thought it was open to whoever wanted it, so, I called and got it. Simple.
I do a lot of trading, selling, and buying. I say again.....communication !!!!
I agree with Vinnie as well. That's the fairest way to deal.
Well . I should have just kept my bird, replaced the passenger side floor, removed the engine to replace the oil pan, water pump, and the like and kept driving it. Then I wouldn't have to worry about jerkoffs on other forums.
Well there were a lot of other problems too...
Lifting the engine to replace the pan isn't really a huge job, just time consuming. Better if you have a helper. Most problems on our cars end up being not so bad. It's often times not the repair that's hard, it's figuring out what the problem is that holds us back. Granted, there are always exceptions.

sorry i just could not resist the urge to do that
Nope, I can change one in an hour or maybe a tiny bit longer. I found out after three long time adventures, there is a quick way. Just a small amount of fasteners to remove, pull the dash out, swap the core. I'd bet money (I'll use it for the Sport0, that it can be done in less than 90 minutes without rushing to do it.
