My ignition just keeps on turning and i can start my car with a screw driver, i think the problem is the Ignition Lock Cylinder, and wanna know how hard it would be to replace it or should i just let a mechanic do it? Thanks for the help.
Mike
sounds like the cylinders might be broke or stuck or something. It is really easy to fix. Put your car in the run position. Then there is a little silver pin that pokes through the steering colum.(where the lock pokes out of course). after the car is in run, all that you do is push that little pin in. And then the whole thing just slides out. that little pin is all that there is that holds the lock in. A new lock is around $20. While you are at it, I would just get all the locks and switch them out. You can get them all for around $30.(prices are aprox. It has been a while, and I dont have the best memory.....and with my luck, you will get them for $5)
hopefully as easy as it is to do, dont want someone stealing my car even if it doesn't have a front bumper and a flat right now.
if your car is anything like mine you wont have alot to worry about. I have left my car running with the stereo on and the windows down. Still noone will touch it.
was gonna upload pics but camera is dead and dont have a memory card reader, car has no bumper or header panel on it ( just ordered a new header panel), has a few spots of rust, peeling tint just to name a few to start off wit. but i'm working on it.
the ignition lock cylinder solved everything just the lil springs in side popped out unexpectedly besides that it was simple.
