I plan on running a new rear line, so I guess just try to mate up with the spot on the housing for the soft line

I put a TC rear into my 86 a few months ago and ran into the same problem.  Check out my posts on page 5 of this link for how I solved it.  http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?28785-Turbo-Coupe-rearend-swap/page5

Let me know if you have any questions!

Everything was off the shelf at Autozone, nothing had to be ordered.  It was quite a bit easier to do than I thought it would be and only ended up taking about 30 minutes.

You're in luck because I save all my car receipts.  Here are the Autozone part numbers from the receipt.  The brake line was #216044 and cost $4.99.  The 3/16 to 1/4 adapter was #976395 and cost $2.99.  The union fitting was #844738 and cost $1.49.

I didn't like the adapter fitting I bought there and bought a different one.  The one from Autozone had a pretty long flared part and that only allowed it to be screwed in a few threads.  I wanted it a bit tighter and ended up stripping it out and had to buy a new one.  I remembered that the front driver's side brake also used a 3/16 to 1/4 adapter, but the one I bought for that was steel.  I went to Checker and picked up another and was all set.  It is an Edelmann #258340 and cost $4.99.

Hope this helps!  Let me know if I can help further.
