Title: Autodown window modules.
Post by: jonwayne1988 on May 01, 2011, 10:30:31 AM
I was wanting to know if anyone has installed the auto down modules on their bird. The one out of the gen 2 tuarus.  A friend of mine just installed 2 on his Super coupe and would like to have some on my bird. So if any one has a how to on how to do it that would be great. Or even a wiring diagram for a 87 bird so my friend can figure out the wiring.

Yea it just seams a little more complex then that. Since the 2 window switches on the bird are pretty much one piece and only have 6 wires for both windows. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the windows?

Nope its not more complex than that I promise .. I did it and I'm a dumbass , you dont have to make it difficult on yourself .

The only thing different is the switch for a bird is on the console . The car I did it in has 4 windows off the same switch
The module needs key on power , ground , up, and down ,, thats it.. it helps to get a male and female plug for the window motor it will make the module plug and play except for the key on power  and ground
This is the module I used .

You can install one of these (You don't need an alarm). You'll have one touch up and down for both windows. I had this in my car in my sig.

Thats an option too ,, I paid $8.00 for both my modules at the junk yard though . I also think the one touch up is a bad idea for some people , especially myself having kids and all :)

Hypostang.....I'm going to grab some of those at the yard. When I do, I'll let you know and have you get me through it. I HATE electrical stuff. I'll also grab the plugs from a parts car out there. Maybe the motors from that low mileage '86 I got my dash from, too.

Not a problem Vinnie it would be my pleasure , My modules came out of 90-92 Town Cars , I'm sure they used them in other cars too.
What was really neat in my case on my Town Car, the passenger side goes down one touch from the drivers master switch too  :)

I'll grab more if I can find them. Maybe someone else will want to try it out. I'll let you know Monday more than likely about the modules I have and when I can get them installed. Thanks a lot.

My buddy with a mn12 bird just wired the modules in my car today they work great. He has now installed them in my bird, his bird windows and moonroof, the passanger side of his wifes and dads explorer. He also has some for sell if any one wants them. He said he could even make a wiring diagram. He said 12 bucks shipped for 1 22 bucks shipped for 2. If you want some just let me know and I will get them sent out to you. Thanks.

Ok guys.  I'm gonna try and round up all the parts required to have an autodown function on my driver's side window AND my moonroof.  To do this, I know I'd need 2 autodown modules, the female and male plugs for the driver's window motor, but what if anything else will I need to mod the moonroof's switch?  Thanks for any help!

I went to the vineyard that day and grabbed 3 1 touch down modules off 2nd generation Tauruses.  I already installed one on each of the windows and am gonna install the 3rd one on the moonroof switch.  Man!  I don't know how I lived without these things!  They're great!
