Well I was planning on getting a C4 to Rebuild and put behind my future 351w project, But I ran into an interesting offer.
Need some advice!
I can get a complete 1968 FMX Tranny for $25 delivered (Internal Condition unknown).
Thing is, I know nothing about this tranny~Is it any good, How hard is it to rebuild? any major flaws/Downsides???
OR
Should I just keep with the C4 plan?
Thoughts?

Well I know the AOD is a FMX with an OD gear. Other than that I don't know much about FMX trans. I know the C4 is popular with drag racers so the hop up parts should be cheaper.
Don't the FMX trannys have a cast iron case ?
The FMX was introduced for the "70" 351 Cleveland, while the "69/70" 351w used a C-4.
As far as I know the FMX only works with the 351c.
Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.
Well it actually was introduced in 68 and were made till around 82 ish , but thats the only correction I can offer
Stay with the C4, it will be cheaper to build and will be stronger then the FMX.
The fmx has a castiron case with a removable bell housing so it can be used with 351w or 351c. They are alright but I have had a few fail so I would say C4
The late 289, 302, 351W, and 351C all have the same bellhousing bolt pattern as do the motor mounts. The 351M and 400 have the big block 352, 360, 390, 427, 428, 429, and 460 bellhousing.
As far as I know the FMX has a removable bellhousing so it can be used with either the 5 or 6 bolt blocks.
P.S. the early 289 and 260s have 5 bolt bellhousings.
