I am gathering parts for my 5-speed conversion.
I bought a TC center console many years ago but now that I have pulled it out of storage, its a little rougher than I remember and has a few parts missing. The tabs that mount the shifter bezel are broken, console lid is rough, etc.
I would be interested in a complete, NICE, console for a 5-spd or console shift car with all bracketry,etc. I have grey interior (not raven, the lighter grey) and power mirror, power windows, and power driver's seat switch (the TC console I have now has the correct switch panel for my car so I could just use it if necessary, but it is also a little beat up).
After reading Eric's coolcats writeup, I am also now realizing I don't have all three of the brackets to mount the console correctly, so at the least I would be interested in those if no one has a complete console available.
I am going from a digital dash, column shift car so I hope I'm not getting into a nightmare swap here. Any helpful hints from veterans of this swap would be appreciated.
I think I know what bracket you're missing... probably the one that is under the radio? If its that one well unfortunately I can't help you out as I had to pull that one from the console equipped JY car at the yard but if you need one of the other two I can help you out. Also if you need the upper bezel for the shifter I can provide you with that too as I mistakenly bought one thinking it would work for my auto conversion:dunce: All the rest of the stuff is pretty much useless but If you end up piecing together a set and still need something PM me and maybe I can send you a couple pieces.
Thanks man. You are right, one of the ones missing hooks the console to the lower part of the dash below the radio and HVAC controls. I have found some people parting out TC's on eBay and have sent them messages. I think I have the right shifter bezel already, but I may have to take you up on the other two brackets.
I kinda need to get started on this ASAP but I have to have the brackets to properly mount the console before I cut the hole for the shifter. If I don't hear anything from these eBay guys soon, I will PM you.
I think I have the console brackets in the garage all zip-tied together. If so, they're yours for shipping costs. I'll let you know tomorrow morning.
As far as the console, Mine was tan, I dyed it to match my interior, and it turned out excellent, and if done right, the dye is very durable and can be treated like a factory piece.
Thanks Vin! You are the man....just let me know!
I have never used dye on interior stuff but I may end up going that route eventually if I find a nice console in another color. Has anyone had an upholsetery shop re-cover their console lid? If I had a nice console lid and a new decal for the switch panel (didn't someone on here used to make those?) I'd be in decent shape.
What color is the console lid? I have decals for the control panel (PM me for a "how-to" on them. Mine turned out great. As far as using the dye, nothing to it. Surgically clean the console (dis-assemble it first). I used isopropyl alcohol. Then, I sprayed the whole thing with adhesion promoter, let it dry, then applied light coats of the dye, letting it dry between coats until I got the color and coverage I wanted. Been great for a couple or so years, and is tuff.
Here's my console plate....I did it last year and it still looks excellent, even after the wicked hot Oklahoma summer....

Console itself is the lighter grey, the lid itself is more of the dark grey or raven color.
Sent a PM to you. It should make you happy.
PM'd you back dude.:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:
(and yes I am happy)
