Title: Just wondering
Post by: 87cougar347 on April 12, 2011, 09:29:02 PM
Has anyone on here ever thought of a 4x4 cougar?:hick:  My room-mate came up with the idea for me to do that today when we noticed how rusty the body on my Bronco is getting. My 87 Cougar has been sitting behind my shop goin on a year now waiting on a new drivetrain and he mentioned putting it on the Bronco frame. I've seen it done with cameros and firebirds, even say a video with a lifted? 86 cougar. Or am I just crazy for even thinking about doing this?

Do a search on it, I know it has been discussed before, in my opinion, not a great idea but that's just my opinion.

I just saw a thread on this. Somebody had it up on Ebay several years ago. Whatever floats your boat.

Not sure yet, been awhile since I've been under my cougar. I'm sure that the unibody would make it difficult.

I'd say the general consensus here might just be that you could probably achieve the same general result by running into oncoming traffic on the interstate during rush hour...lol

If you are gonna do it, don't cobble it together, do it safe, do it right, and do it just once. (Meaning safely and correctly)

That'd be soooooooooooooo hillybilly redneck it wouldn't even be funny. If you did want to put a car on a truck chassis, go find yourself a nice Eagle and throw some 31's on it :headbang:

Before anyone flames over the idea, bear in mind, this cougar was pulled from a syard 7 years ago, washiznit by a rollback truck a little over a year ago, and needs a complete new drivetrain. I do love my cougar, but I also need a 4x4. With my Bronco's body rusting off, just entertaining the idea for now.

You know, if you are really into Fox Tbirds/Cougars and needed a 4wd, what could be better.:D Not saying use a rust free jewel, but there are enough rust buckets around to use. I think it would be awesome, the only thing that could be better is if you fabricated some kind of pickup style box.

Wow, that poor Cougar in that video.

Something totally off topic, but why do 90% of car videos insist on using that "Let the bodieshiznit the floor" or that "Gimme Fuel, Gimme Fire" .  Can't we ever just hear the  car the video is about?  /end rant

What's better-Cougar sitting doing nothing or cougar running and driving?

I'll go out on a limb here and say that I like the off road '86 cougar. I wouldn't do it to my Tbird, but I still think it's cool. And at least it would still be a ford...

Baja style might just work with a cougar.

it's either going to be cougar 4x4, or cougar gets crushed at this point, too many projects and dont really have time for the poor car anymore. so i figure why not consolidate two into one

I guess if you put it like that, I would rather its saved and live on.
