Title: going foxless
Post by: Haystack on April 08, 2011, 02:39:54 PM
I have decided to sell the bird.

I have been calling around, and I can get $270 if I drive the car down to a junkyard. I have been calling family and freinds and am trying to see if anyone is interested. So far no dice. I would much rather sell it. I have never junked a running car. I do not have a place to keep it at the end of this month. I has been sitting at my fathers house for the last 8 months.

When I bought the crownvic wagon, I really only wanted a four door. Come moving day, I am glad I had it. Its much better to have a four door right now. The wife has quit working, and my work has been alittle bit slow. Right now we only need the one car. With a two year old and one on the way, its really hard to argue.

If I could get $270, that would be enough to part ways. I have always seceretly hated the car. For the last several years I have just been trying to replace my old 86. It just isn't the same.

I will be selling many parts I have been collecting over the years. I will be keeping my engine, but just about everything else will be going.

I just can't justify all the work I have to do to keep it. I bought the car for $350 or $400 three years ago. I can't remember which. I have put about 60k miles on it in three years. It was our only car for two. I drove pizza in it for almost a year. Drove over 100 mile commute daily for over a year. Nothing major has broken, and I really would rather keep it. It just doesn't make sense to throw a couple hundred into a car that I could replace for $500, and haven't driven for a year.

I will be back, as I always have. This time I would like to make it an 86 cougar though.

Well, if your Bird is in good shape, it's worth more than $270 in parts, then the shell will bring decent money going across the scale. No, I don't like seeing them parted out, but, if you're getting rid of it, unless it goes to a real fan of these cars, odds are that's where it'll end up anyway. Sorry to see you bailing out after all these years. Maybe you can find another Bird of the year you like and get back into it. Don't go Stang on us.

Send me a PM Haystack. I want more info on the car, sir. If the planets align, just right, we may be able to keep it in the FTBC family.

Scott, sent you a pm.

I will not be without a fox for long. I don't think I've been more then 3 months without a bird/cat since I was 16.

I've been riving an '88 Bird since November of '87. I can't own another car. Gayle has had 8 in the last 18 years, but I just can't do it. Now that the Sport's A/C is back in business, I couldn't ask for much more.....except a supercharger.......and stickier tires out back.
