Title: Bullseye mounting
Post by: Coldcougar on April 06, 2011, 03:23:01 PM
So when i picked the car up originally, it had the bulls eye still with it, but the mounting spring and hardware was long gone. Also the little loop at the bottom is broken, may be the reason its not on the car anymore.

I just wanted to know if you guys had had any luck re-mounting these, as well as if there are any popular fixes for them. I know that if I need the hardware I can make a quick trip down to the yard, and s one out of another vehicle.

Here's a pic of the piece:

Yeah i had some of that stuff on there, but with the cold temperatures up here, and the fact that i can see it getting bumped or smacked all the time, it didnt work too well.

Just hit the yard and/or Ebay and grab another one.

When I worked for MB we used to get aftermarket hood stars that you could pull out of the base and remove to avoid it ending up on some misfits necklace, I think I might still have one so let me check and if I do I can send you some pics to show you how it mounted. Once its on the car you can't tell as it looks original

I would myself see if I could find some very small metal tubing Stainless if possible. I can find it at lowes and home depot sometimes the KS metal rack or even online or a Model/RC type hobby store. I would see if I could find some where I could drill and maybe get a press fit or silver solder it in there. Then you would have the hoop part back. I haven't done this but that is what popped in my head for a fix from that pic you posted.
