Here is a picture of AOD shift lever and TV cable setup from an 88 Cougar COLUMN shift.

Does anyone have a picture of the shifter lever and TV cable on a floor shifter setup?
Mostly the same as your pic. The TV cable stays the same, the shift lever (behind the TV lever) goes in the down position, as opposed to the up position it's in on your pic. You have to pull the pan, and remove a roll pin, pull the lever shaft out enough to rotate the shift lever down. A pic will be here from someone I'm sure soon.
ignore the zip ties, my trans was a conversion also, and came from a later model tbird, used a different type of shifter connector... but the rest is basically all the same.
You'll be using the same TV cable. It looks different but all it is just that you don't need that extra bit that connects to the "pivot-er" piece.
Whats the ??
Thanks sarj for the pics and explanation.
I'm planning to convert to floor shift, but I wasn't sure what the shift lever looked like or the connection to the shift cable looks like. Kitz do you have a pic to share?
Well keep in mind that my trans, being from an MN12 bird has a slightly different type of connection there at the lever. It's basically the same but I had to make a minor modifacation to the hole in the lever to get the peg in and then had to use the zip ties to keep it in lol.
You do need to be sure that you get the correct bracket for the TV cable, since it is connected in a different place and a different direction. You'll use the same cable but a new bracket. If you look at the two pics, you'll see yours has the cable pointing down so it can connect to the pivot piece, but with the floor shift, the tv lever is in a different position, so there is no pivot, and the cable connects directly to it, therefore it is pointing toward it and not the ground.
If you swap to a floor shifted trans from a 5.0 or a mustang or whatever, then everything you need is already there and in the location you need it. Mine was on the transmission since the bird was already a floor shifted car. If you need to get the bracket you can get it from basically any floor shifted AOD as far as I know. Heck, there's probably more than one person here who has 2 or 3 of them sitting in their garage just cause.
**saving topic** This will be very helpful when I do my column to floor conversion...if that ever happens lol!
Anyone else have additional pictures on their factory floor shifted 87-88 5.0 AOD?
I plan to run the stock Mustang HO catted h-pipe for exhaust for the time being, but it looks like the shifter bracket, cable and shift lever will be in the way?
Thanks for any information/pictures!
I didn't have any issues with the shifter or linkage, but I had a off road H pipe. I used a lokar tv cable to. Sorry never took any pics.
