Last week I downloaded an app for free on the android market. It's called "car performance" and is basically a speedometer and timer all in one. You can use it to find quarter mile, top speed, etc... I have never been to a track with my car, but using this app and a horsepower calculator online, it seems to be pretty close to what I should be running for a stock mustang engine (1983) in a car that weighs 3,740 lbs. Here are the stats for my run:
60 : 3.45@36
330' : 7.54@57
1/8mi: 11.61@71
1000': 14.50@78
1/4mi: 16.40@80
Maybe someone could try the app who has actual track times? I would be curious to see how reliable this data is.
I know the one for the apple tests very close to track times so I would expect the android to be the same.

I'm pretty sure I had that same app a while back, I know for a fact the speedo was a few MPH's off, but I never got around to any of the times.
I would think the speedo would be based off of GPS and this is far more accurate than the speedo in the car.
X2...
If you change the gps filter to strong only, it will read dead on, I would think.
I agree, but I wasn't going by the speedo in the car when I noticed...;)
Did Mr. Policeman catch you? I could see radar/laser as being the MOST accurate, but the thought of arguing based on an application is funny. "Officer, my droid said I was going the speed limit!" See how that holds up in court haha.
So I did a couple of 0-60 runs in the wagon.
first was 14.25. Second was 1.5
I just don't see it even being close. I also ran a 16.8 quarter.
My 0-60 is actually pretty close. It seems odd that two different runs could be so far apart in timing. Whoch droid phone do you have? How many satellites did it connect to? I had 7 in range and use the original moto droid.
