You should be able to get a new regulator/brush holder/brushes kit for under $20. Is there a place handy to you that rebuilds starters/alternators? Also, before putting a new reg in take the old one out and have a look at the slip rings on the rotor. They're known to wear out on 3G's.

If the '97 Thunderbird had a 3G alternator on the front of a V6, I've got those parts laying around somewhere.

the brush holder assy was like 40 or 50 bux at advance.

the reg was about 150.00 at advance.

I had them check the charge system and of course it checked good...lol
I suppose I have to learn the internals on the 3g's and find out whats going on inside em.

We dont have a local resource for alt rebuilding or starters, im pretty sure I can figure it out and when i run into a question, ill just have to ask here.

both 3g's i have are marked F4 in the begining of the pn sequence so if yours has that number, its probably the same.
