I'd also list them under fishing lures, and fishing equipment for the big fish. Get them out there to people who go out after those fish.....or any fish. Now, if you did the 5.0, GT-40, and other auto related themes, they may sell better.
selling them on the web? or through a local store?
i was going to try a local art show also, but you are probably right about the fish and car thing. Also the stright lines and letters are very hard free hand.lol
You're free handing? Sweet. Maybe you can experiment on some straight lines using a stencil on the plate to trace. Also, as simple as it is...vinyl graphics on a plate. Simple and effective. Just a thought. It's a lot of trial and error. That's how I'm doing my GT-40 intake plates. They finally turned out great. All trial and error.
For the plates you're doing, it helps to appeal to as many groups as possible. A peace sign, a daisy (girls dig that stuff),etc. etc. Look around, ask questions, and get an idea of what people like. Craft shows are a great way to get them out there. Again, at a craft show, you have to try to have something for everyone, and a business card to pass out because people will want one when you're out of them and this gives you a means to reach out to more people.
I have dogs with names and humming birds for the ladies, and the art shows in florida are all about FISH!!!! lol I do live 10 min from the sailfish capital of the world. I cant use a stencil because the bit on my pencil grinder would chew it up and if it were metal it would bounce around. I have $120 in to these(with anodizing bought 35 now I need to move them or atleast get my money back, to get the wifey off my back.lol
by stencil, I men, using a stencil to transfer the design on to the plate with a wax pencil (or other erasable utensil), then literally tracing the picture to make the design.
oh, yes but tracing a stright line with a pencil is even hard enough for me, with a 70,000 rpm grinder is just crazy, trust me I tried
