Title: Mustang dash swap
Post by: jridenour31 on February 28, 2011, 01:07:21 AM
What all is involved in switching to a mustang dash?  I'm in need of a new dash and mustang dashes are much easier to find and for less money.  I might end up with a fiberglass dash from vfn.

A Mustang (obviously, lol) an EVTM for the donor, and for the recipient vehicles would be pretty  nice, as well.

There's a little modding involved for a bracket or two, nothing major. To me, the bigger issue would be the then-mismatching doorpanels and console issue. Mustang door panels won't directly fit our longer doors, and the consoles may as well be from 2 different planets.

With that said, it's been done several times by people here...search and find what you seek young grasshopper. :)

I did several searches and didn't come up with much.  The only halfway useful thread I found was by watchdevil and he didn't give any information about what was needed, just showed pictures of the installed dash.  I'm planning to use the 87-93 style dash so it will go with the door panels ok.  My car also doesn't have a console so that won't be an issue.  It doesn't have to look factory, it's getting an 8.50 cert cage and kirkey's lol.  The only thing I was really wondering about was physically mounting the dash inside the car.  I'll be completely rewiring the car and won't be using any of the hvac  or switches so it should be pretty simple.

In that case it's pretty well a direct bolt in for what you want to do.
