I bought a set of Exploder injectors on Ebay, and have had them laying around for awhile. Finally cleaned them up, put a few pintle caps on, all new orings, etc. Throw them on during assembly, and just so happened to run across an article telling me I have 17# Mountaineer injectors, not 19# Explorer.
W T F.
Im assuming it would be a bad idea to try to run them. Am I the first to make this mistake???

Wow, I never new that Mercury was different. I wouldnt try it, if you need 19# ers
Just ordered some from TMoss. He had a set of true Exploder injectors laying around, with good orings, etc.
Great guy. he is the source of the above info.
$60
You mean V6 Mountaineer injectors? 5.0 Mountaineers have the same injectors as 5.0 Explorers....
Nope, they came on a few 2000 5.0's. Check rockauto. 2000 calls for the white/cream color body, all others are orange. I havent found any info on why they made that temporary change.
My Mountaineer engine had 19# injectors. Crazy stuff.
$50 for 19# squirters. Hell, im in the wrong line of work. Im sick of looking at my collection of em.
These are at least the explorer 4 hole pintle cap design, and with fresh caps and o rings.
are these low or high resistance injectors?
They are HIGH impedance.
I've been looking for a set of slightly larger injectors for the engine in the Scorpio (2.9 V6), and was thinking about some of the EV6's (seeing as I'm building a new harness anyway for the MegaSquirt). Someone had some 24's for sale, but judging by the pic, they may actually be 19# ones...
Chuck, I have the injectors here from the '98 Explorer engine if you want 'em. $20.00 shipped.
If you need 24s 4.6 DOHC Mark VIIIs and Continentals are a good source of EV1 24lb injectors. IIRC 99+ Continentals have EV6 style 24lb injectors.
Thats where I got mine. 4.6 Continental .....Bosch style
