Hi I'm new here. I just bought a 87 5.0 T-Bird and I was wanting to know if the T-5 out of a 87 turbo coupe would work in it. I tried using the search to find some info but could not find any thing that talked about the tc tranny. It all had to due with mustang t-5. I have almost a full tc for parts minus the motor and rear end. Thanks
another Kansas guy :D the tc t5 will work if you use a probe pilot bearing. the tc tranny has gearing that you will probably hate behind your 5.0... where abouts are you from in kansas?
I'm in wyandotte county. Where about are you located? So a probe pilot bearing. Just to make sure your talking about the ford probe. Does it matter what size motor the probe has? Will the tc tranny bolt right up to the 5.0? Can I use the 5.0 drive shaft? And the tranny isn't the first thing I'm doing. Here in a few days I'm picking up s 8.8 rear end for it. And that turbo coupe looks kick ass. I wish I still had mine.
Located in Arkansas City down on the kansas oklahoma line. Yes ford probe and im not sure if the engine size matters although they can't be too expensive. The 2.3 bell will not bolt up to a 5.0 you will have to find a bell from a mustang as well as the flywheel setup pedals and clutch cable he'll you might as well grab the right tranny whiit your at it. Is this tc the white one that was on craigslist a few months ago?
No. It was on craigs list but with no pics and the guy pulled the motor out of it for something else. I was going to try and buy the whole thing from him but the car has some title issues. The car is a black 87 tc that was fully loaded. It has all the pedals still on it could i use them? O and if you know of a article that show everything I need to do to drop in a t-5 on my 5.0 that would be great.
I don't think the pedals will work since the 87 used the hydraulic clutch. Do a search for t4 swap and you should come up with what you need to know.

Im also here in the KC area and have done the 302 swap to my TC.
Did you use the TC Tranny?
No I went with the mustang t5 and cable type clutch and used the mustang pedals.
I do however have a t5 that needs a rebuilt along with the bellhousing clutch fork and flywheel if you are interested. the only thing you would need besides rebuilding the T5 would be pedals, clutch, and a cable.
OH ya I dont think anyone answered your question about the driveshaft. yes you can reuse your driveshaft

Welcome Kansan. I ran a 4cyl T5 behind my V8 awhile. I didnt like the gearing and swapped it for a V8 T5.
