I'm in the white band, but our results from the continuing weather is like the light blue band and I'm glad I'm not in the dark blue band..........which should not be confused with a rubber band, rock band,or high school band.

Jerry, I don't think I could handle the winter weather you guys get. I'll like the summers again around here now that the Sport has A/C again. C'mon 117 degrees.

lol, Winter is an acquired taste over here....We just got about 6" the other day. That's like a dusting over here.

We have about 7 or o inches of snow on the ground (along with wind and sleet) and people are sliding off the roads and killing themselves. They forget that one has to slow down on this stuff. We don't swap to snow tires here, and people just have no clue.

We have ice here...I'd rather have a foot of snow than 1/2"-1" of ice.  More ice coming later today.

Here's a little update. My boss just called me, we're not working tonight. Yay, I didn't want to be out in 40 mpg gusts with less than a mile visibility, on top of 4-6 " of snow and ice already on the ground.

My nearest neighbor is a little over a 1/4 mile down the road, I can't even see their horse shed for the blowing snow. Nicole went to town for a few groceries in case we get stuck in tomorrow.

A lot of people are freakin' over it, but really, what can you do?

Just be smart, and if you need to get out, be safe, slow, and watch for the other guy.
It could always be worse..I hear Chicago is supposed to get upwards of 2 and half feet of snow...

I'm in the red band.
We had a bad ice storm here in '94. Pine cones coming down with a heavy coat of ice on them. You didn't dare go outside without your hardhat. Trees coming down all over the place. No power for six days.
Hope we are not in for that again.

We're supposed to get almost 2 feet in Chicago. My usual 20 minute drive home from school took me 2 hours....all this and I just bought a brand new Focus yesterday.

I've never had actual snow tires before... just all weather radials....They work fine for Buffalo. Or maybe I'm just used to driving in snow.

We actually have great snow removal in this part of the state.. the city gets  a little buried because of the street parking, but most other parts around here get plowed out pretty fast.

I just had a ice covered tree limb fall and land about 3' from my house.  My wife and I hit the deck like a grenade was going off.  I expect our power to be out before the night is over.  Limbs are falling out of trees everywhere.

To put things into perspective, when everyone is done with this storm, and everything goes back to normal for the remaining time ahead.....

Come the month of May, I will still have more snow on the ground than what you all will have from this single storm.  And you wonder why I drink heavily, lol.

Yawn... The front is halfway over (I am in the red band), and not much noteworthy is happening. Sleet is piling up, but no ice formations or anything cool. With all of the hype about this "historic storm" I expected more...

I was hoping for my job to close tomorrow, but probably not at this rate...

I took this picture back in 2005 (I think that was the year...) That ice storm was horrible! Trees dropping all night long, power lines down everywhere, phones down. For some reason, my house had power the whole time. Needless to say, I had a house full of family from all over crashing until their power was back up.

We've had the worst snow I've seen in my 34 years. No shiznit, folks. People are going to die in this one.

Wind is about 40-45 mph, and that's steady..the gusts are up to 60.

So far we've had about 13", the drifts are horrendous. My driveway is socked in, my 4x4 has no chance to get through.

This may sound trite to someone from say, Michigan, or Chicago....but we just don't get snow like this, normally.
I think the only place left open in Brookfield is Wal Mart.
Everything else is literally closed up and locked down. Even I70 has been shut down clear across the state. Rumor has it that our 4 lane that I live 2 miles from has been closed, but according to the state's DOT site, it's listed as covered, but not closed. It oughtta be, in this shiznit you can't see an eighth of a mile.

Big trees on your property are nice till they look like this, and start draggin on your roof in the wind. Branches that I normally cannot jump to touch are nearly touching the ground in some places. I hope they all stay together and dont drop anything bigger than they already have.

You could always live where I do, where you get hurricanes AND snow. Sometimes as the same time. In Sept 2003 we were hit with "Hurricane Juan (http://"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Juan")" which did crazy damage and then a few months later we were hit with a storm known locally as "White Juan (http://"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Juan")", a snow storm that delivered 39" of snow over a 24 hour period, driven by 75MPH winds. Not technically a snow hurricane, but near enough. (Weather buffs can click on the names White Juan (http://"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Juan") and Hurricane Juan (http://"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Juan") for Wikipedia articles about these two storms)

As for this particular storm we got 6" from an unrelated storm last night and are expecting 12-18" from this one, for a total of up to two feet in two days. Too much even for the snowmobile...

Everything was fine till I got home and thought I'd check the mail....I live in a small neighborhood off a fairly main road. The salt/plow trucks dont ever bother with hitting our lil "U" as they bust past on the main road. We got almost 2 feet of snow in about 20 hours in Chicago. Over 600 cars were stranded on Lake S Drive and they had to shut it down for almost 12 hours. If you know anything about Chicago Lake S Drive is the busiest non highway road in the area. I live in Chicago and have not had a City of Chicago plow go down my block yet, and the snow stopped at 11am. It took me and my girlfriend almost 4 hours to clean the driveway and the walk in the front of the house. Yes I used the snow blower but it takes awhile with 3-5 foot snow drifts.

Last night at 9.

That's about what it looks like here, although we had a few inches of previous snow on the ground. I spent most of the day trying to get a tractor started, then finally getting it buried in snow, dug it out with a shovel, and gave up...I didn't feel like shoveling 2 more tons of snow to open the gate...there was snow there that came up to my armpits. shag it.
June will be here....sometime.

Moral is....next time, the  tractor and blade will in MY shop...and it's all Al Gore's fault. Someone go kick him in the nuts....-ass snow.

This one certainly has turned into a doozey, no doubt.  Hope everyone is safe and sound.  Back in '07 I was in a similar one where we got a few feet of snow, and 50 mph sustained/70+ mph gusts of winds all night long.  We were trapped at work for the night.  Tried earlier to drive out and beat the storm, but I didn't make it, turned back, and found a spot to sit among the others.  So Gumby, I feel yer pain.  (that fence is 10 feet tall, and there's a few cars parked along the fence to the side) Here's just a couple pics.

We have had maybe 2 inches of snow in the last 2 weeks. For the last week though, lows of 4-6 and highs of 18-20. I took a work truck to the car wash to clean off some dirt. In the half mile back, the entire truck was covered in ice.

You guys stay safe and warm out there.
