I've read the stickys and done some searches but can't find the answers to my question. Which is: are the Ranger PASSENGER side and Aerostar DRIVERS side the same width as a sn95 axle? I'm looking at doing a 5 lug swap on my 83 and want to keep the track width the same. That's why I want to avoid the R/drivers side or A/passenger side axles. I know the sn95 axles will work but the yard by me has no less then 16 ranger/aerostars and NO sn95 stangs.

......try this
Yes I've seen all those posts and they don't give the dimensions of the sides I'm looking for. They only give the dimensions of the sides that are the same as the fox body stang.
The Ranger left hand side and Aerostar right hand side is 29-5/32" long (Fox Mustang length) on the 2WD models. The Ranger right hand side is 26-1/4" long on the 2WD models and the Aerostar left hand side is 32-1/4" long on the 2WD models. The 94-98 SN95 Mustang axles are 30" long which is identical to the TC disc rears. With all of that I would say that you cannot use the leftovers from the Rangers and Aerostar axles for a TC rear once the Mustang length axle has been robbed.

it! I knew that would be too easy.
So there is a 6" difference between the "other" axles? I thought the rears were the same between a Ranger and Aerostar and that the center section was just reversed? I guess I learned two new things today. Thanx for the info!
I believe the track width on the Aerostar van is wider than the Ranger. This is just from looking at them from the rear as the Rangers are really narrow trucks.
