Title: aftermarket replacement fenders?
Post by: fordguy545 on January 21, 2011, 07:24:48 PM
I searched but I suck at searches, but I am needing some new fenders for my 87 tbird autox car since the ones that are on it were crushed in when I got the car.  I thought I had them pretty well straightened but I cant get them to line up right with the header panel.  Are new fenders available, or am I stuck with used ones?

They stopped making metal replacement fenders a few years back, I searched everywhere back in 2007. used are going to be the best bet...I actually put away an extra pair for me just in case someday

that really sucks.  Guess I will be continuing to screw with these fenders till they fit correctly.  I also have to fix the rusted out door bottoms, but that should be fairly easy.

Maybe you should look at Shermanparts.com about year ago they offered metal fenders. At home page you dont see any parts but if you send e-mail or call then they had all parts for our cars.

give that a try, they might have some kicking around... not sure about the quality, or fitment with them though. I've heard bad things about some of their parts...but also good things too...

I have a bunch of rust free sheet metal, not sure about shipping though.

HCOR - shipping might not be bad if you can get hold of a big enough pallet to ship truck freight.  I truthfully would need both doors and both front fenders.  Door bottoms are terrible.  The doors weigh 75# each (I weighed one today without glass).

I sent an email to shermanparts.com and will call a company that dad suggested tomorrow.  Going to call them tomorrow.

I tried showcars...
here is an email from 2006. they are a car parts locater company.
I got every panel for a lot less right here.
I bet they have a harder time finding parts now, and also bet it costs more for them
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jerry,

Found rockers for $300US each (complete). Found door shells w/o glass $350US each. Found quarter panels for $400US each. Coming out of the south. Still need them?

Hope to help. Thanks, Tyler.

Found another Email.... They said the parts will most likely come out of Texas, or Montana, (back then)

Edit
And the parts and prices on their site have been the same since 2006 when I was looking..I did ask about the fenders listed on the web site, and they said they were out and could find more, which is the Email pricing I received from them... everything they sell is used with varying quality they told me. They are located in Ontario CA

Thanks for the info, Daminc.  Did you talk to them at all about their fiberglass parts?  I wonder if those are "streetable".
