So my 88 Xr7 has the auto temp control. When I push the two buttons for medium fan speed I hear a loud clicking coming from under the passenger side dash. It also does it when I try to select floor. I ran the diagnostic and got 88. So I stating randomly trying to switch modes and settings. Ran it again and got a 2. Defrost/floor blend door actuator out of specs. I figured. So does anyone know which one or where it is and how I can replace it? Any exploded view diagrams for our dashes? Should I change to a manual system? Help help help:punchballs:
I had a similar problem on my Mark VII the actuator is directly behind the glove box.
In my case I unplugged it while I had accidentally left the key on and it rotated around and In plugged it back in and it worked .
But I digress , if you drop the glove box all the way down you will see the actuator .
ok so thats the clicking sound? I forgot to mention that the display flashes some too
my temp display stays solid but the lights in the buttons on mine flash all the time im guessing thats normal.
Ok , the clicking sound ..I dont know without hearing it myself but my first guess would be actuator malfunction ,,,and Bantam ...NOT normal to flash , the flashing is to let you know there is a problem
I am by no means an expert on these things ..I have had 4 Fox cars with the ATC and only had one problem ever

The actuator is 18a318 in the diagram....
I changed my EATC to a manual. Not the easiest thing, but you have an EVTM, and ALL the donor parts, even down to the last vacuum hose and electrical connector, it will work.
However, my stuff had some serious issues and I wasn't gonna attempt a fix.
Thanx guys and V8Demon, kick diagram. Whats clicking is a box right behind the glove box that says Fan control.
