Post by: crystal on December 31, 2010, 05:28:20 PM
So uh, I have my car torn in a million pieces and am failing miserable at getting the cluster out and it's only because of the shift indicator... I'm sure u can tell by this that I've never had a column shift car, so uh, HOW DO I GET IT OUT?!

Thanks guys, I kinda need my car back in one piece without screws everywhere...

You have  remove all of the column trim and there is a white collar thing around the column take the one screw out of it and remove the  little string piece and it should come right out

wow, yours wasnt broken already?(the white plastic ring)
all the ones ive seen were broken already.
put a radiator hose clamp on it when you reinstall it(and align it) or youll be pulling it all apart again to fix it.

when you put the white clamp back on the column, and  you finally figure out how to hook the other end of the string back on the lil hook,
shift to "N" then dial in the red indicator by rotating the white clamp.  Get the red shift indicator centered then it should line back up with all shift detents.
