Now, I know this is Christmas Eve as I type this, but as I spent Christmas Eve at my parents' house and opened their gifts early I thought I'd get a head start on this thread. To nip the inevitable "hater" in the bud, let me open this thread by stating that yes, I realize that not everyone enjoys Christmas, whether it be because their religion doesn't celebrate it or because they are in hard times and can't or won't celebrate. I respect the former and have empathy for the latter. I'm not trying to rub anything in anyone's face here.
That being said, I enjoy Christmas very much, and I know the vast majority of people on this continent do. I like everything about it, from the feasting (already put 10 pounds on and haven't even had Christmas dinner yet) to the giving (as much as I hate shopping) to, of course, the getting. And the getting is what this thread is all about, for as much as we all have heard the "It's better to give than receive" cliche we all love to get loot, even if some of us only use Christmas as an excuse to buy ourselves things we'd been wanting but couldn't justify buying. And "getting" doesn't have to be anything fancy or expensive. From a crate engine to a CD or movie, new stuff is new stuff (and it doesn't even have to be physical to be special - spending time with family/friends, new additions to families, new jobs, good news from sick family members - it's all good). And that is what this thread is about. What did you get?
Me:
- Chicago Electric 230V 130A arc welder with TIG kit (never TIG welded before, should be fun. Now I've gotta wire up a 230V plug in the garage)
- Two Mastercraft GearWrench sets (one metric, one SAE)
- 300A Booster Pack (will come in really handy for moving the snowmobiles and ATV's around)
- Kobo E-Reader (similar to the Amazon Kindle but more "Canada" friendly and more supportive of "open" formats) - this is a funny gift because I got my mother the exact same thing, except hers is white and mine's black
- 100 lbs fresh Nova Scotia lobster (actually got that a week ago when I visited relatives on the south s)
- $40 Wal-Mart gift card
- Olympus 12MP digital camera with 18X optical zoom (gotta love the zoom, I took a pic of an eagle in a tree up the road today and you can see the look on his face)
- 4GB XD picture card and 4 rechargeable NIMH batteries with charger for the camera

- Lots of clothes
- New headphones for my Blackberry, which I use as an MP3 player
- Samsung 50" 3-D Plasma TV (this was a treat for myself, I ordered it today from Best Buy in a Boxing Day sale, so I suppose it would be a birthday gift to myself :hick:)

That's it for now, I'll add the rest tomorrow morning after I open it :hick: (stuff in red added Christmas day) Let's see what you guys and gals got...
Lets see, I got me:
Innovate Standalone gauge kit with the XD-16 gauge :D
Sound Ordnance M2250 500w RMS amp
Fun stuff! What "tomorrow" brought:
2/10Amp Battery charger, whoo! The ability to recharge the bird when I run it down from cranking to get the fuel pump running.
I really need to install that bypass switch!
Wool socks!
Gift cards to Sears and Home Depot! Guess I'll be picking up some things for the garage!
-Turned HD card into a Porter Cable air compressor today!
Binoculars from the Bro for when I'm out riding in the woods.
So, not terribly decadent, but I got what I "needed" so what else do you want? had the family down from Tacoma for the day so that was cool.
i got these.. well, technically.. i bought them then the next day my dad gave me the money i paid.. that's it so far aside from $300 cash from a few relatives
37x12.50R16 TSL radials for the sonoma :)

Have a merry christmas everyone, remember to donate to some sort of chairty this year no matter if its your time or giving stuff. We generally take our working equipment or clothing down to the DHHR center and drop it off during the month of dec.
I generally dont give monitary gifts, just food and products we can not use any longer.
I never actually said what I got in my other reply..
It wasn't intended as a Christmas gift, but it sure made me happy.
I've been working at Publix for 4 and 1/2 years, and this summer, I reeeaally wanted an internship. After meeting an accountant for their Business buttstuffysis and reporting department about a year ago and talking through various emails and a USF School of Accountancy function, I'll be an intern in Publix's Business buttstuffysis and Reporting department at the Corporate Office in Lakeland for the summer. It's a full time job for 3 months and it's gonna look awesome on a resume. What I'm really hoping though, is that it could lead to a full time job there, but we'll see.
So far I got an iPad from the wife, socks and $125 from Parents. I had the iPad for about 3 weeks now, she gave me that early. I like it a lot works great.
Just an odd question here, but which publix do you work at? (I ask because I used to work for one in Tampa...lol)
And so far I got a 2 gal. 2hp Shop Vac (from work yesterday)
And I know my wife got me a Dremel 200 with about a million accesories.....sweet. More to come tomorrow!
I got 4 shirts(2 tbird shirts, a shirt that has fast car/fast driver with a drag and road course map, and a shirt that says "life liberty and the pursuit of the perfect drift"), a couple pairs of gloves, and a movie. We don't get too much into getting presents for each other, mainly just my neice.
So far I've received Keith Richard's autobio called "Life", a sweet Dr Pepper t shirt, another nice shirt, a Nintendo Wii (Nicole and I got it for ourselves awhile back..) some good leather work gloves, a 6 pack of beer, and the joy of spending time with family and friends. the circle grows ever smaller.
not to shiznit up a good thread...and not to decry the holiday, I love this time of year like no other..but curious people should investigate the origins of christmas, the real meaning, traditions......and the reason. ;)
/end hijack

And...it snowed on Christmas day for the first time here in 17 years (from what the weatherman said...I haven't lived here that long...)
And the joy of going to my parents' house with the rest of my family all day without a fight....lol
This Christmas my best friend found a Santa suit on sale for 1/2 price so he bought it with the plans to go "santa clausing". We drove him around on Christmas eve to my little neice and nephew's, some work friends, and our families. It was a blast. His wife, my wife, and myself would park in the street and crack the truck window so we could hear him go up to the house. The kids would go nuts when they saw Santa standing at their doorstep. We made those kids Christmas eve so that was a great gift in itself!
