I'm sure there are a few here that can do it. I'm afraid that to own my car for another 64 years is quite doubtful.
Can you imagine having the same car for 82 years?!!!
I guess it was no longer under warranty...
"How Long Have You Owned a Car?"
Mr. Allen Swift ( Springfield , MA.) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Picadilly P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928.
He drove it up until his death last year.....at the age of 102 !!!
He was the oldest living owner of a car from new. Just thought you'd like to see it.
He donated it to a Springfield museum after his death. It has 170,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years)
That's approximately 2000 miles per year...
Can you imagine how much it is worth, an unrestored 1928 Rolls?
I bought my 69 Torino in 78, so only 50 years to go. lol.
P.S. Who gets a brand new Rolls Royce for graduation??
I was kinda thinking the same thing. Parent's must have had deep pockets lol.
I got a rusted out 76 Dodge Aspen
I got.......nothing....... lol
That car is HUGE !!!!
I've still got my first wife, my first truck, and my first car .....going on 35 yrs......don't want to part with any of them.....yet. :spit:
I do still have my first 74 Torino and my second 88 Thunderbird LX altho they are both sitting down in the pasture the Torino was bashed by 2 deer and the bird is is sitting along side of it torched to the ground
This is why I'm bothering to get the 20th's rust fixed and the same down the road (though much more minor of an effort) for the '38 Buick. Everything and anything else I might acquire can come/go as it wishes. Those were freebies in that in my father's passing they became mine, and they will be with me for the rest of my life however long or short it may be. NO person or thing or event will tread on that goal. NO exceptions, no compromises.
My problem is that I bought the 92 ranger new when I was 40. Time is against me.
I might be able to do it if I live to 104...........:hick:
I still have my second car (88 cougar). I didnt get it new but I am the second owner. I got it with 88K. My car is going on 23 years old and already has 169K. On the track that Im going down it will have a million miles on it by the time its 82 years old.
I got my '88 T-bird from my Dad (that I have now owned for 11 yrs). Only 65 years to go...I will be 93. Think I can do it?
thats an incredible story in my opinion.
whats most amazing to me is the fact he was 102 years old and still driving.(with a licence i guess?)
I bet his son(s) (assuming he had one) was (were) pretty mad when he decided to donate the car to a museum.
This article says he passed away in 2005, which would actually make it 77 years:
