That'll do it,Thanks Jerry.
Kinda late I know, but there is a site to do it for you if you wanted:

Thanks a lot. I got the info I needed for a small interior project.
That's a very early car, VINs start at 100001...
So,mine would be 1673rd built ? That's just Thunderbirds in general,not just Sports,correct?
It is the 1674th T-Bird(any model) assigned a VIN at the Lorain plant... It could be the 1589th, 1603rd, 1735th built or any number reasonably near 1674... At the very least it's a first week of production vehicle...
IF there were other assembly plants building T-Birds in '88, it would be possible to have two vehicles with same VIN excepting for assembly plant code(H)... Through '85 Atlanta also built T-Birds so there were two in '85 with 101674 as the consecutive VIN, but the ATL car would have have "A" for plant code...
My white one has a consec of 228955 while my red one is 228385, but the red one was built later than the white...
IF you still have the buck tag on the radiator support it will have the approx day of build... Mine has 0606(June 6th), but from the Autocheck and Ford's OASIS report it was built June 7...
here's my production # for my 87 Cougar. 710693
You would think that you'd see a lot more of these things still driving around for numbers that high.
Built in Lorain, Ohio... Anyone surprised?..lol
Nope...
The Mercury VINs started at 600001, so your car is the 110,693rd Cougar assigned a VIN, no doubt a late production...
I'm not surprised. I think these cars are mostly considered "just an old car" by most. I personally just can't drive anything else.Perfect car for me.
Tom, my buck tag is long gone, but, I sent off for the info from Ford months ago and I remember the date of birth to be in August.I have the paper with my title.I'll check later.
Yeah new year production usually starts in July or Aug so that sounds right...
I'm going to get the rest of my info on both cars today
mine is 100712
vert is # 675962
Ummm... Now that's a low VIN...
I once owned a '76 Mustang II that had the VIN of 100026(no doubt a pre-production build), but it's by far the lowest I've owned...
Nope, I don't think they all left the factory yet!!, I think guys like Eric are holding on to them, maybe releasing them once a year.
My Marauder is 611562, but VINs are mixed with the Grand Marquis... According to the Certificate of Authenticity it's the 754th built, by VIN assignment it's the 701st to be serialized...
Supposedly my '93 Lightning is the #249th built but I've never ordered a report to verify that number...
Wow, that's cool...
and here's my Uncle Buck tag...lol
What does this stuff mean?

Vinnie, just tell all your Chevy buddies that the last three digits show the horse power rating. lol.
Tags varied from year to year, I'm only really familiar with the '88(they were the only ones I've seen with a date) but the first number I believe is the rotation number(Build sequence for the week)... Next are the last six of the VIN and 9L is the paint code, I dunno about the remainder but trim code and similar info are likely included...
If you send your VIN to Ford via https://secure.corporate.ford.com/footer/contact-ford/contact-us-email?contactMainTopic=PublicAffairs ..select vehicle & service issues from the drop down menu, they'll send you a letter with all of the options original to the car, if you're going that route ...I'll scan mine when I get a chance
Yep,I did that months ago. It's with the title locked away.
Very cool info guys! I just sent my info off to Ford as the original window sticker was lost years ago.
