Title: Headlight Cover...
Post by: SeanO on November 23, 2010, 11:32:20 PM
I was driving today and hit a bump and immediately hear a "crunch"

I thought it was a soda can or something and keep driving, only to find out it clear cover has fallen off.

Where can I get replacement covers?

Within a day of it falling off the bulb went bad because it broke.  no doubt due to being exposed to elements while driving in wind and rain on the way home.

This is a major issue, unfortunately.  Any ideas/

You have other issues if your bulb goes bad. The lights should be sealed even without head light covers. You may be able to contact the company that made the light covers and buy a replacement, but my bet is you'll have to buy a new pair. I never did like those light covers.

I think he's talking about the front of the actual headlight housing; the clear lens (87/88 style). If that falls off, the halogen bulb would blow when it gets wet. He probably needs a whole headlight housing, as that front part isn't "supposed" to come off, if I remember correctly.

Perhaps he did mean that. I always picture those long plastic snap on covers. It just may be the lens. If so,post in the "Parts wanted' section. Someone will have a light assembly. They went up again for new ones for the Thunderbirds on Ebay....$228.00 a pair plus shipping.

Yeah, a whole new assembly is likely needed.  Time to hit up Pick & Pull.

I'll take two lenses, right and left, to match.

I can Paypal you today if you can ship them to Northern California (San Jose area)
