Well, I finally took my .45 to the range to see how similar it is to my 9MM department issue. I must say that I was impressed. The fact that it has less trigger pull than my 9 and a double recoil spring makes for tighter groupings. It's a Glock 30 and I have 3 Glock 21 Mags for it (they hold 13 rounds each...13 plus 1 in the chamber....with a .45!)
My buddy brought along his new FN57.
Armor piercing rounds from a handgun with 2300 FPS muzzle velocity. The thing has absolutely NO RECOIL.

We had a blast! Anybody else got the handgun bug?
I've gone to the range with a friend of mine and his dad (ex military and now instructor). I've shot 9 mm, a couple different .45's (mag load and revolver) and a .44 magnum (ouch). OUt of everything I was most accurate with the M1911. Overall, I pretty much suck with guns.
We've had our days of shooting things where he comes here, I take him to the archery range, totally destroy him and then we go to the pistol range and he destroys me. I'll take a bow over a gun any day, just far more accurate with it.
If anyone knows anything about Archery I shoot a basically bare recurve, only thing I have on it is an arrow rest. Wouldn't say I'm great, but I'm not terrible either, just wish I had more practice time...
The biggest thing I've ever shot is a .22. I'm not big on guns but I've been toying with the idea of getting my moose licence. If I do, I'll have to step up a notch or two. "Gotta get me moose b'y" :) :macgun:
Only handgun i've ever fired was a tiny 5(?) shot .22 that was the size of the palm of my hand, had no accuracy over 3 feet away but still fun to kill a milk jug full of water with :D I remember when I was 4-5 years old my dad had this huge chrome handgun, not sure what it was but it was heavy to me!
If it wasnt unlawful for me to do so in this counrty i'd own a Cooey model 39 .22 single shot rifle, a Cooey model 64B .22 semi auto rifle, and a Mossberg model 183KD .410 shot gun, but since that would be illegal all I own is this 12ga
Personally I have never tryed a handgun (they are illegal here), but I would like too. I'm really into hunting and fishing and I own several rifles and bows.
I own a .22, .270, .308 , all winchester, and a browning 12 gauge: Non of which are registered
:flip: liberal gun registry :flip: (the canadians will get that)
I own a browining compound bow, which I took deer hunting last fall for the first time. I've never tryed a recurve bow, but they look really difficult compared to mine.
Shot myself in the leg with my father's .22 Derringer about 10 years ago. Went to the hospital, and they called the police (required to when there is a gun wound). The cop kept asking me if I was trying to commit suicide. After answering her question "no" 3 or 4 times, I finally asked how many people she knows of that had commited suicide with a pocket pistol and by shooting themselves in the leg. She finally quit asking.
I was getting out of dad's car and reached in the console to take the gun in the house (he left it there most of the time and since I was borrowing the car, I was taking it in for the night). I had my left leg hanging out of the car, and when I swung around with the gun, it fell from the small sleeve holster and went off. Went all the way through my left leg, just below the knee.
My mom was freaking, and said I should never touch guns again. I went deer hunting 3 weeks later (on crutches) :D and shot a small 8 pointer. I had to know I wasn't afraid of the guns, and this was the perfect chance.
I used to go to the range all the time, but haven't been in a couple years. My wife's Grandparents are in bad health and we have been taking care of them, doesn't leave much time for other things...
Hopefully this will be one of my toys in the future.........
