Man it really sucks changing plugs in the stock engine bay. I guess I spoiled myself over the years with my lack of a/c and 8,000 stupid extra emissions parts. I need to put a warning on that thing!
I feel your pain I am in the middle of a tune-up/valve cover gaskets on my mark......%^&*$#@ The hydroboost system makes it a real pain in the ass to change the drivers side plugs....
with your small hands it should be a breeze.... :hick::D
but yeah the pass side can be a bugger.:punchballs:
it could be worse.. it could be an SC and have to work around the intercooler plumping on the driver side :D
Well the challenge was to get it done while the baby was asleep (which I did). The small hands help, but the lack of reach sucks! I have to get in the engine bay or stand on something next to the car to reach the back...
If you remove the Thermactor piping the passenger side becomes really easy:D
That's what I did.Holy it left everything WIDE open.
Which is why I said I was spoiled by my old engine bay ;) What emissions controls? I'd just pop the cai outta the way and it was cake!
I tweaked my shoulder though which is not cool. I'm not old enough to have such horrible joints!
Even with the CAI,there's a lot of room on the Sport, but, she loves me,so,she's probably helping me a little.LOL
....and yes,you are too young for those issues. You'd better start taking some supplements.
My wife's '99 Blazer w/ 4.3 and all bells and whistles was the biggest PITA to change plugs on. So on the grander scheme of things, be happy it was a Ford. :)
x2.. i hate changing plugs on my sonoma
+1000
I have one of those in my yard right now for a tune up, my Bird was a cake walk in comparison
I'd NEVER be able to reach them lmao!
You guys should try working on a Volkswagen, sometime
try doing a clutch in a vw :D
Try doing anything engine related in a ford van
Hell, that goes for almost
any van
Oh hell, you said
engine related. If that were not the case, I'd take a van any day of the week and twice on Sunday :headbang:
try replacing a motor in an 80's fullsize C-series van.. i'll never do that again :D
I swear i hate the pass back plugs but its not all that really bad with a couple 12'' wobbly extentions , a universal on the end and a wratchet.
All the stuff under the 20th hood is stock.
Replacing the O2 sensor in my mom's 01 Windstar took 5 minutes :D
that's about the easiest thing to do, provided you have the right tools lol
I have had the stuff to do the plugs and wires in my SC for over a month now, and had to do a clutch in the meantime. two weeks to do a clutch ON a lift really sucks. I woulda had it done in 4 hrs on my tc, and at this point I am waiting a while to do the plugs on it
Rear plugs in my 99 Expedition are a PITA.....
4 weeks? wtf.. it took me 3 hours(not including the time it took the machine shop to resurface and flywheel). they're not that much of a PITA
