Are the front bushings on the rear lower control arms "round" or "oblong" on an 88 Sport.....
also... do the rear end bushings for the upper arms the same as Mustang (the bushings that mount in the ears on top of the rear end)
looking at the Energy Suspension replacement bushings.....
Mine were oval...
Here ya go. (http://"http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=27320&highlight=energy+suspension") You're welcome :D
thanks for the reply.... did you use Energy Suspension? if so, how was the install?
For the back of mine, I have CHE arms, I used the bushings that came in them, they're poly, not sure as to brand.
I Do have ES bushings for the front, so far have one control arm done, and painted, just awaiting ball joints, new steering rack, and inner/outer tie rod ends before putting it all back together. Oh, and paint.
It was a huge pain in the ass getting the stock rubber stuff out....ended up turning it to mush with a torch, then a gasket ser to clean the out.
Ran some scotchbrite through it, and put the ES bushings in myself. Just tapped them in with a ball peen hammer. Use the lube that comes with 'em, you'll cuss a lot less lol.
Anyway, that's my take on it :D
I suppose I should post some pics, but not many care about what i do, so f*ck 'em lol
I found that using a torch does get messy but if i set the control arm in my vice and used a small burnsamatic torch and let it slowly heat the bushing outer and move it around a little at a time they will start to hiss when you have heated them enough to push out they will push out very easily and leave very little behind in the outer.
I used a drill w/ 1/2 bit and drilled holes in the bushings till they fell out
then I put the arms on a gas BBQ and "cooked" them till they quit smoking, then glass beaded the whole thing then pressed in the ES bushings
