Title: cam question
Post by: turbo_88_XR7 on September 21, 2010, 08:03:28 PM
a friend of mine asked what would happen if you used roller lifters on a flat tappet cam and i couldn't come up with an answer for him.. i've never strayed from roller on roller, flat on flat, so i have no idea if there's an issue.. would anything happen to the cam or lifters?

I don't even know if it would run,  the lobes are designed differently
More important is why would you do that ?

i wouldn't, i stick with roller/roller and flat/flat.. i'd much rather stick with running what i know.. but a buddy of mine asked because he wants to put a cam he bought off me in his motor and run roller lifters

roller lobes are more round for the rollers to roll on and flat have more of a peak and will not work with rollers..
