I thought wrong lol (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txdv_oNq81I&feature=player_embedded")
Holy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just about threw up watching that. Made me feel real nervous and I wasn't even the person doing the job!
I had to stop @4:27 . I have a tremendous fear of heights
omfg they better pay that guy a ton of money! I'd die!
I'm game. Where do I sign up?
The fall almost never hurts. I'd be using the safety line a whole lot more. I'm chicken.
With my luck I'd get two thirds of the way and have to take a .:D
I'll gladly go back to work on the aircraft carrier flight deck with 25 planes all moving at once before I'd do that.
I'd be wearing a parachute for sure.....
Thats crazy, talk about having to be "perfect" all day.. and yeah I'd use the safety line every step LOL
no way
Id pack a parachute
I was game while they were inside the tower, but when there was no more tower and just a pole with some steps hanging off the side..... ummmmmm NO WAY!
It is hard to believe that with all of OSHA's regulations, that they have given their approval of this. LoL!
Edit: I had to add this, it is from the comments on youtube. --> At 1768, free falling 32 ft per second. takes 55.25 seconds to get to the bottom. thats a long time to scream...
I think I would be more worried goin back down.
Hey been there Nimitz1976-1980. Yellow shirt.
I did the Nimitz last. 91-93. VFA-146.
That made my guts hurt and my shoulders ache. I can barely get on top of my two story house without freaking.
I have done a couple of 2-300 foot cell and satellite towers. I would do it, but not be very comfortable. I have been 75 feet or so climbing a pole. That sucks worse then the towers I have done. OSHA requires you to be tied off anything over 6 feet. You won't die, but your nuts and back hurt. Something I'll never do again.
you think OSHA is bad?? MSHA makes us wear a harness if anything is higher than our knee.... talk about some BS... try wearing a harness with a sunburn :shoothead:
Video removed, don't see anything.
I have a huge fear of heights and started getting dizzy just watching that!
Edit: I watched this earlier but now it is gone! That sucks it was a hell of a vid.
Since that one is gone try this (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzNhaLUT520&feature=fvhl"). Its on a totally different wavelength, but sure made me laugh.
Soo, for those of us that missed it, can somebody describe the vid?
:rollin:we gonna find you :beatyoass:
Dude climbing an antenna tower 1700 + feet high
Here is the video.
http://www.artifacting.com/blog/2010/09/15/climbing-a-1768-foot-transmission-tower/
Yep, that's it.
I put up a 40 foot Rohn tower for my wireless broadband the summer of '04....when I was up top mounting the trans/receive dish, I was about nerved out...I'm pretty phobic about heights.
Oddly enough, in June the fam and I were in St Louis for a wedding, and the day after, we went up in the Gateway Arch...I figured I would be the chicken-shiznit, but I had a hoot...Nicole was the scaredy-ass then lol.
But, no way in seventeen hells would I go up, (let alone free climbing) a 1700+ foot tower....for ANY money.
I *might* go up a hundred feet or so on the elevator, but that's about it.
I would do it. No more dangerous then my job now.
have to try it atleast once, after the first time it probably gets easier. have to remember to not let go and keep your mind in the game.
i'd soil my pants.. and my shirt with vomit.. YIKES
There's no way I could do that, I get nervous just looking down from the 2nd floor.
I wonder what the pay is for that job.
Would be a really bad time to have a charlie horse........
My palms were sweating watching that video. I sat here in speechless amazement.
I literally couldn't do that for any amount of money. I had to be on top of a 40ft rickety scaffolding that was swaying back and fourth and I about had to call the fire department to get me down, lol.
No way. Just no friggin way.
Thanks for that video link, that has to be one of the most scary things I have ever seen!
The camera is a in a bad location and is using a wierd lense, its not as bad as it looks
Getting up is the easy part ya know, think about going down...
And then of course, theres the ballsy sob's that put that thing together....
I was working on the 8th floor of a 10 story building out on the ledge and prolly for 5 minutes before I realized my safety harness wasn't attached to anything...
In construction you get used to hights real fast, cause your in em A LOT.
Course I wasn't 1700 feet high in the wide open air....
Holy shiznit! There ain't no way you'd get me anywhere near that! I managed to watch that entire thing but now I think I need to go vomit, my stomach is so queasy. I probably had the same look on my face as most people have when they watched 2 girls and a cup. :yuck:
You're right.
The fall wouldn't hurt.
Now the landing. That would hurt.
The only problem with falling from that high, is there's way to much time to think about hitting the ground. :hick:
Actually, you'll be too busy thinking about how much yer head hurts from the depressurizing of yer skull, and maybe even then , you'll go into shock. Or you might be thinking if you remembered to unplug the coffee pot this morning, lol.
