Is there anyway to fit that joker and its drivetrain in my thuderbird and not have to many problems (besides the wiring). I thought that it would be a lot different to see a thunderbird with the new 5.0 runing around, not to mention i wouldn't have to upgrade it to much if i had to, 400+ hp is more than enough for a daily driver and i don't have much problem getting my hands on the parts either, for i work in a collision repair shop and have to constantly go to junk yards, plus we have a 2011 Mustang 5.0(it has auto. but i will find the 6-speed trans. and install it) thats in the back that was rolled a couple of times and my boss bought it from the insurance company and hasn't done anything to it and if this swap is at all possible i might ask him if he is willing to sell it.
havent seen a reason so far that would say it CANT be done.

I would think it would be along the same lines as a 4.6 swap.
Well maybe..
Its a Jag engine. It has almost nothing at all in common with the 4.6 short of the bellhousing. Its a front "sump". Its not really a sump at all, more like a flat oil pan.
the engine at its widest point is almost 30" wide. It would be one Hell of a swap.. but would be a pain. you can order the hole setup including ecu and harness from FMS.
They have a stand alone fuel injection system available for it to... if you have almost $9K to blow!
It will fit. There is one in a Fox Mustang GT of the 82 vintage. Looks really cool under the hood.
:ttiwwp: you know what to do.... :beatyoass: :D
Good thing it was actually Ford designed, engineered and built.
I agree completely! ford does not need all the issues jag has. God knows my xkr has a ton of them..
The only one I know of currently under construction is a Fox Mustang Coupe on stangnet.com
They already have a problem with oil pan fitment hitting the k-member.
That is the site I go to to see how the swap will work.
No-one yet makes Fox headers for the Coyote 5.0.
The 2011 Mustang headers aim right into the firewall. Might work in reverse for a turbo set-up ?
Here is a link on their build-up....go to page 6 and see how the oil pan hits the k-member.

You could use the FAST EZ-EFI to run the Coyote 5.0, but I don't think they have anything to control the variable valve timing, so you'd lose out on what makes that motor so potent...lol. I have to check it out a little more because I'm probably going to use it on my 351W when it goes into the Crown Vic...it's only money, right?
Good luck,
Don
I got to see one of those Coyote 5.0 crate engines up close and personal @ the NMRA Finals in BG at the Ford display and I really want one now !
Those 2011 GT headers look like they could easily be turned around for a turbo install or a front exit exhaust for now (cheap way out)
There is a huge air gap between the top of the block and the bottom side of the intake. You could hide nitrous stuff in there easily !.....LOL
At any rate, I talked to my wife while she was sitting in the golf cart watching me drool over that engine.:D
I told her it would be wiser in the long run to purchase the crate engine and electronic control package for around 7,400 total than it would be to pay a local machine shop to build me a 7,000 rpm screaming 435 hp engine.
I trust Ford's quality control system more than I do the local machine shop.
Imagine having a screamer 444 lb engine that idles super smooth....:D
mmmmmm, F.A.S.T. injection
boooo.. i'd rather people know i have something nasty hiding under the hood by the rough, lopey idle :D
I read an article on a Coyote engine in a 86 Fox Mustang. Here is the story on it: http://highflowfuel.com/nt-190-blog.html
vegar
BBK makes a set of coyote swap headers w/x-pipe for fox bodied stangs. They are $569.99 and x-pipes from $249.99 to $479.99. Not cheap by any means.
project built to cruise on stangnet was successful
I have added to my prayer list a bounty of ponys to arrive in the bone yards across the nation!
lol,, now, How hard would a 2011 pony to vintage 5.0 EFI swap be?
then I could go rent a 2011 pony, swap out the motor and call it good..........like they did to all the hertz mustangs long ago.
then there is the whole idea of getting caught which would really suck,, hope the judge understands.
i'm just amazed at the availability of off the shelf parts to assist in the conversion.
There are plenty of fox cars running around with the new 5.0. I will be doing one myself in my 88 vert.
We are doing a COYOTE swap in an early mustang at the shop right now. Basically an engine swap is an easy thing to do. All it takes is money lots of it and time. That is the bottom line on engine swaps. Basically once the shock towers are removed and a new front end installed their is room. But their is a lot of fabrication on any swap of this magnitude.
On a bird, you wouldn't need to remove the strut towers, But then again, they are wider than a early stang.
yeah need a k member and she drops right in, have to convert to hydroboost. I am guessing it will cost me 10 grand to do it right when I do it. That is why I havent started it yet,lol
Install into a Fox Mustang HERE (http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthread.php?t=120205).

Wow he did that swap FAST
Pretty sweet swap. When you have everything ready to go including the bankroll to pull it off i imagine it's easy. Ugly ass car though.
