The T-Bird's new owner just drove it away. Another chapter in my life closed for now...

Think of it like this:
You know it has a good home now, or you wouldn't have let it go...
Can't wait to see the 4 eye you'll have sometime soon.. ;)

And Graham; got 190 acres here...(long term storage, hint hint) :D

You should have just brought it along when you picked up the Marauder and given it to me:D

I'd love to have another fox but I have no room for it. The 1.5 car garage is spoken for.....

At least it drove away.  Been without mine for 2 months today....Sucks when you're still paying the insurance on a car that you can't drive cause it's in pieces....

It varies state to state but you should be able to drop the insurance on an inoperable vehicle. You should just be able to cancel the registration and then the insurance.

Yeah that's exactly how you do it in NYS...but then you have to go to DMV, call your provider afterwards, surrender your plates, I guess you could have them stored in that case, but you're gonna pay again to renew the registration, have to re-instate the insurace before that, blah blah. :flame: At least pretty much any provider will email you cards to print out so that speeds it up a lot.

Sucks to be you guys!  Around here you can cancel your insurance at any time. It won't be legal to drive the car anymore, but you don't have to get "permission" from the DMV to cancel it, nor do you have to surrender your plates....

But yeah, I'm missing the 'Bird already. How's that stupid 70's song go?

Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone...

Ahh well, as I've said, when my future stabilizes I will get a four eye Bird, 87-88 Cougar, or 88-92 Mark...

Exactly.  I pay roughly $600 for the year for the car.  To renew the reg after pulling it off would run about $180.00 for 2 years due to the fact they'd want me to put new plates on the car..... I have 16 months left on the current registration cycle.  That plus the hassle means I'll keep it insured.  I plan on calling them and letting them know about the changes and sending some pics.  That and also letting them know my mileage driven estimate was woefully high.  I have on record 5000 miles a year.  I drove it 2200 miles last year....

Does your ins. have a storage option? I have State Farm and before I got classic plates for my Bird I used to put it under their winter storage option and it allowed me to keep my plates and it was still insured if something happened to it while it was stored. I actually was able to set the date it would be stored and then when it would be back on the road. It was a nice discount.

Holy , I pay 700 every 6 months! I had to drop insurance on the cougar. Couldn't afford it at all for it to be sitting there.

I pay 1000 every 6 months, I hate insurance companies. Just because I'm 18... gecko. The second I turn 25, I'm getting Grundy. :burnout:

In CT, you can drop coverage any time, but it's illegal to drive without insurance obviously. You also need to insure the car before you can register it, works out well.

I do the same thing every winter with my 88.
