Title: 1987 3.8L questions Help please!
Post by: school78 on August 29, 2010, 09:05:30 PM
This site is so cool. I didn't know there were so many T-birds and cougars out there! So I removed the engine from the car. Leaking real bad...I am having a hard time finding parts such as an oil pan and headers if they make them. Anyone know of a place to buy these parts for the V6? Do later model 3.8 parts work on the 87 3.8? Wish I had the 302. Those parts grow on friggin trees! Thanks,

oil pan from 83-87 is the same, I think 88 too,  not sure about after that, I know my 96 is different

Headers are the same as 3.8 mustangs from 94-98

a good place to buy v6 parts for our cars:

im not so sure about that, i recall someone here asking for an 83-84 oil pan for the 3.8 v6 specifically because of there being a difference between them and the later ones.
cant recall the exact reason offhand, itll come to me later.

practically nothing from the later v6s will work on your 87 cfi motor.
